Why are some so critical of gorgeous people who are talented? David Garrett has worked his WHOLE life at the classical violin. The boy genius is still inside him and he's grown into an incredibly innovative musician making the instrument accessible to a new generation who may never have found classical music. If his handsome/hip look draws people to him SO WHAT? Our society is now so driven by hype and pretty people with NO talent, the fact that David Garrett is beautiful on the outside yet so dedicated to his art form is unusual in this "sound bite", fast food, in-the-moment world we live in. David is here to stay, not just a flash-in-the-pan. Like all good musicians they grow with age. David Garrett is only 28 years old but, as of only recent, has been performing nothing but classical concerts all over the world for almost 20 years. His "crossover" music is exciting and new which has brought his popularity to the masses. However, he's a truly classical artist. His new album, "CLASSIC ROMANCE", is a best seller only because of what he's created by bringing the violin to a more popular genre. If his goal is to expose more people to classical music than I think he's done a very good job.
"CLASSIC ROMANCE" does more than just expose people to the music. It expands one's knowledge of composers and brings to life how moving classical music can truly be. This is not only an album for novices but fans of the classical genre, as well. We are not often exposed to Mendelssohn, Elgar or Rachmaninoff (for which David has arranged a violin piece). Take a holiday from the rat race, slow your heart down a little and feel the peace that will wash over you by listening to the beauty of David's classical violin. Credit must also be given to the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin which accompanies and compliments the violin so wonderfully. If you are a fan of David's "crossover" music do yourself a favor and experience him for the music he's worked his whole life to create. David Garrett will age, like all of us, but he will always have his violin and this enormous talent which will, most assuredly, grow through the years. But for now he's young, exciting and as beautiful to listen to as he is to watch.
