Crispin is a boy, twelve years old. He lives wild in the city and he is on the run. His only friend is the dog Harley. (And what a surprise - better no surprise - Harley is half a Golden Retriever, as so often, nearly always in Koontz novels...)
Crispin is hunted. From People. Once he lived in a great house with his sister and brother, his mom and his stepfather and a great household staff. But Crispin encounters that something strange is going on. Then his sister disappears, a few weeks later his younger brother...
THE MOONLIT MIND is a shorter novel by Dean Koontz. The idea itself (the model of the house, the strange cult, disappearing people, cats and avatars, living in the streets, haunted by the own past, and so on...) is good but not brand new or extraordinary. Only the drawing up of the theme could be better with a bit more action, more suspense, less predictable.
In the end nice to read but nothing special.
