Wrong title. Overrated.,

Rezension bezieht sich auf: Hitler's Children: The Story of the Baader-Meinhof Terrorist Gang (Taschenbuch)
Question: Why this title? Answer: to sell more. This is not a bad book, perhaps the one of the best concerning Baader-Meinhof band. However, it is still quite tiring - more than half of the book focused on irrelevant Information while the important events briefly described. A bit disappointed.

Wolfgang Christ meint:
Not sure you're right there. Of course, "Hitler sells." But I think the author had a quite different intention when choosing this title. The Baader Meinhof people were radically anti-Fascist, anti-NS and anti-Hitler. They had in their WG's (communes) long discussions on how and when to use violence (Gewalt). In the end they killed people - "for good reasons." But is there ever a justification to kill? Can one kill for good reasons? In the final analysis, these people were children of Hitler, because they thought that they were the ones to decide when to kill and whom to kill. We have in Germany a slogan that says that left wing terrorists are "fascists painted red." It was actually coined in the mid/late 70's as a reaction to the Baader-Meinhof ideas. Violence is violence, murder is murder, there is no "good" murder - and in this respect (thinks the author) these leftist terrorists are no different from the right wing terrorists they claimed to fight - hence the title.
