This book really moved me. It was difficult for me to read about the bullying and I started to dislike Jared real quick. At the same time, there was something about him that wanted me to like him. I found myself hoping for some kind of misunderstanding between Tate and Jared in the past. But he was just cruel and mean. The way Jared treated Tate and the pranks he pulled were horrible - and kind of sweet with hindsight (lice treatment against a date?). There was a lot of anxiety and trepidation as well as hope. However, I could relate to Tate's attraction for her former best friend and feel the love between the young couple in the end. As I said before, there was just something about him...
What truly got me, was the way Tate acted because of or against the bullying. High school was a nightmare for her and she had to walk the thin line between being a victim and leaving unscathed. She also struggled with fighting back and becoming a bully herself this way. For me Tate was a believable character and I liked her a lot. And when I learned about Jared's history, I couldn't understand anymore how I missed the sweet part of him in the beginning. So, both main characters were really great.
And now I'm going to start Until You and I can't wait to get an even better view of Jared.
