It is much less problematic that this book is not even funny (not to mention anything else), than the fact that so many people are obviously delighted with it. You can't expect much from the general public taste, but after 1000 reviews, one should at least be able to see a tendency towards a slightly deeper opinion. But unfortunately, there is none.
Despite being a bit more demanding reader, I do like to relax with an easy but well-written novel sometimes. However, Don and Rosie kept my attention for exactly 20 pages, then they mostly became a drag. Then i was dragging the book around with me, spilled water over it, carried it in my bag for another few weeks, just hoping I would get myself to finish it after all - for the sake of finishing a book. Characters are poorly built, there is absolutely no suspense, no twists and turns towards the ending, it gets repetitive and tedious, and finally the ending doesn't move you whatsoever. It just puzzles me how anyone could proceed to Part 2.
