Although I used ASP.NET MVC 4 and Web API before I boght this book I learned more than I already know about how to use these Frameworks in the projects I'm currently applied to. Also it seems to be a good alternative to prepare yourself for the Microsoft exam 70-486. The first part leads you through some kind of workshop along with useful third-party libraries like Moq (Mocking Tool) and Ninject (Dependency Injection) which are really useful and helps you to develop independently back- and/or frontend of your MVC project. The second part describes the "theory" and best practices of the common set of tools you can use with the MVC framework. I'd recommend this book everyone who just started or will start with ASP.NET MVC 4.
