Don't pee in it if you don't want to empty every 4 days
16. Juli 2018
It takes practice for this not to be a nasty affair. If you don't want to empty it every 4-5 days only poop in it. VERY IMPORTANT. If you keep it to solids only it doesn't smell. If you do both it will smell horrible after 4 days. If only poop it is smell free for much much longer. When you combine pee and poop it smells bad, that is the reason dry toilets should only be pooped in. This is a chemical toilet but if you use it like a dry one and free camp, you can wait 2 weeks between emptying it and it will not smell anything. The emptying process is nasty but if you make sure there is always water in the toilet by flushing three times between uses + the blue chemical it will be ok. The benefit of always having a toilet is great and I prefer to use this over public restrooms. There is not much info on the practicality of these on the internet, especially about frequency of emptying. Be careful with the vent button when emptying and hold it the right way. I also find the toilet can splash when you empty it so be conscious about where you put the emptying spout, as close to the dumping hole as possible. Filling water through the emptying spout is not easy and it can splash here too if not the right tools are provided by the dumping station. A graden hose will not do the job, when you spray water into the spout it will splash back. I had such a horrible time emptying this that I thought about giving it away. But with practice it is better. Always have alcohol wipes, shoes, golves, plenty of water and tissue available for the emptying. Gloves so nothing nasty touches you, same with the shoes because it can splash if not extremely careful. Water for the cleaning process, alcohol wipes to sanitize areas on the toilet and tissue to wipe away water. Cassette toilets are not great since you need to be in too much contact with sewage, but if you have no other option it is still way better than nothing. Use this or a dry toilet.
