I was really looking forward to reading this book, and, indeed, it was a page-turner. It was fast-paced and with interesting characters. However... I cannot for the life of me understand why - at the end of the book - I was still left with unanswered questions, which ended up spoiling (for me) this otherwise super novel. The main question (without trying to spoil the book for other readers) being - why on earth did the wife go so out of character and incriminate her husband? It was not logical! If she was trying to cover up for the perpetrator, WHY? And then she entrusts her children to the supposed perp's care?! I don't think so! Did I miss something?! And then, when the protagonist is released from the institution, he doesn't even try to find out the answer to this conumdrum?!
There were other points that made this book - at the end - unsatisfactory, almost as if the author wanted to hurry up and finish on time. Such a shame, in my opinion, as up towards the end I was still enthralled by the storyline. However, 4 stars for most of the book, 1 star taken off for the ending.
