Everybody knows the good old wisdoms in Poker: Do not go on tilt, be patient, concentrate on the game etc. This looks fairly easy to accomplish, but we all know that it is not!
We all have our own intentions, thoughts and feelings, we all react differently. This book offers you a step by step workout for your mental game. But it is on you to solve your individual misbehaviour. One cannot expect his problems in his mental game to be gone after having read this book. This book is more like a workbook. It gives you ideas of your motivation, but more important it points out that you actively have to work on your mental game the same way you work on the technical aspects of poker.
This book is for the advanced player who already realized that some of his misbehaviour at the table is due to a lag of mental strength. And we all know that on top of every sport psychology is a crucial factor.
The author is a psychologist and an ex golf pro. And I prefer this to somebody who is a poker pro but not familiar with psychology as this is what you can find everywhere. He works with a huge number of poker pros on a regular basis for years now.
Even though it is hard to sit down and work on your mental game as you think the results are not easy to monetize, it will give you an important edge over your opponents. This is a must buy for all players with high pretensions.
But there is one serious point I want to make. When talking about psychology we refer to emotions and habits that might have a very difficult background and are therefore not neccessarily easy to solve on our own. Aggression, expectation, anger and fear are things that might have roots deep in our past and are reflected in the way we play the game. So we should not be suprised when we are unable to solve all of our weaknesses on our own.
