my favorite camera for long time
am 24. Juni 2016
Despite of being a Pentax K5 user and fan, the Pentax Q ended up in my bag only as a second choice (the Fuji x10 I ordered got stolen by the courier!). The misshapen was a bless! A small masterpiece of engineering for photographers, tiny size, great performance, sturdy and robust (magnesium body), all possible commands right at finger reach, top-quality lenses range to cover all needs. No regrets, DSLR operability in compact body. I bought a Q10 and Q7 afterward, both very well manufactured (bigger sensor and even better image quality with the Q7) but not comparable with the original Q. However I could pack in a very small bag, three bodies fitted with 2 zoom lenses to cover from 21mm f/2.8 to 250mm f/2.8 (in 35mm equivalent) and a prime 47mm eq. f/1.9.
Why the Q series is not my favorite anymore? Pentax missed to progress: no touchscreen controls, no tiltable LCD, no viewfinder. Three features which Olympus made available on latest E-Pl models without compromising too much in size and keeping prices low enough. Adding that M4/3 format open the door to the EM series (weatherproof, among other top feats) and to Panasonic, makes the change a no-brainer.
I don't sell the Q's anyway, I still take them out now and then and still enjoy using those little jewels :-)
