Quick question... If you were offered the choice to replace your government, would you sign up? For many the answer would be an immediate, YES!
So, if you were hunting for the people who were trying to replace your government, knowing that they had weapons and armed forces they had stolen from your country... knowing they could control everything from the TV to mobile phone communications, would you STILL sign up??
M.O.D. is a terrorist element, intent on the overthrow of the US government... or are they?
In their hunt for the leader of the group, two FBI agents have to face that question. For one, Scott, the answer is simple and he joins up. For his partner Sheelia, she has a duty to her country, and she wants M.O.D. stopped. Co-authors Allen and Hicks have really hit the mark here with an excellent story that will challenge the reader to root for the bad guys, or was that the good guys? *sigh*
There is solid writing and excellent conceptual work throughout the book and although others have highlighted that there were too many things in the content that were `impossible', you really do have to consider how far we could have advanced in science, technology and medical achievements, if human research was unlimited in funding and resources... THEN ask yourself, just how impossible is it?
Admittedly, there are elements of this work that revolve solely around the internet and hacking of systems, which although some may find it cumbersome reading, again you have to consider it a crucial method of control in the modern web-based world, where so many rely on the internet for their information, entertainment and even social interaction... After all, you're reading this review, aren't you? ... but these parts take nothing from the story and coupled with that is some superb character and descriptive work that makes this into a great read.
If you are looking for something that is well written, with superb characters and a great storyline, this has to be a book for you to consider.
