When I first started this book, I thought it was corny and soon put it down. But later I got bored and picked it up again. Soon, the story hooked me. I finished it in two days! It was about two high school sweethearts, the gifted football player Luke Muldenhower and beautiful, smart Julie Ellis. They seemed to have the perfect teenage existence until the day Luke discovered that he had cancer. Julie was his cheerleader throughout his illness, refusing to accept defeat. This crisis strengthened their love, but would it break their hearts?
The book is excellent. It was true-to-life, if somewhat predictable and mushy. It taught many life lessons. My favorite parts were when Julie and Luke went to California to visit Luke's uncle and the discovery Julie made at the end.(I won't give it away, you'll have to read it and find out yourself!)
However, there were a few things I didn't like about the book. First of all, Julie was too obsessed with Luke. Unlike him, she had no other interests in her life but their relationship. Also, Julie's mother was a very flat character, appearing mostly to hound her daughter about finding the right college. But overall, this was another great Lurlene McDaniel novel and I reccomend it to all romantics at heart.

Ok It all started out by my summer reading i had to read a book. So i looked through the younge adult sectiona dn this one just hit my eye it really sounded good. I picked it up and read the summery and i knew i was in LOVE true love. I got back and just plowed right into it. I read it for a couple of hour then my phone rang and all throught the conversation i was reading it. I couldn't put it down then my friend asked me to go out with her and her cousin and after an hour of debating i decided to go. As soon as i got home i started reading it again till the end. Let me tell you right now it was 2:30 in the morning when i finished it. I could of swarn that i'd wake my parents up cause i was criing so loud. I couldn't go back to bed so i came down and wrote this. This is one of the BEST books i've ever read. I will rent the movie based on This stroy " A champions Fight as soon as the movie place opens in the morning. I garuntee you'll love this book. It made me realize how lucky i really am i have a good home and am very healthy. I would pratically die to be Julie. In the thing of having a boy LOVE me that much. I wouldn't want him to die but if he did i'd already be married to him in my mind. I would be His Bride Forever. Then i'd meet up with him in heaven and live the same life that i had when he died.

This book was recomended to me by my cousin. "Yeah, it'sa romance," she told me, "but you'll love it." I was alittle hesitant at first. The title kind of threw me off, but I trusted her judgment, and decided to go for it. Right away I was pulled into the book and read it for the rest of the day.
Julie Ellis and Luke Muldenhower are the perfect high school couple. He's gorgeous and the star of the football team, and she's beautiful and smart. They are in love, and everything seems perfect. Until Luke gets the flu and just can't shake it. When his regular doctor can't find anything wrong, Luke is sent to the hospital and has some serious tests done. It turns out he has Hodgkin's lymphobia, a kind of cancer. And so begins Luke's journey for a cure. Julie is always there for him, but will their love outlive a fatal cancer?
This book really pulls your heart strings. The research of Hodgkin's is outstanding, and I learned much, much more by reading it. Luke and Julie were very real characters to me, and it was wonderful to watch Julie's transformstion from a girl who worries only about her life with Luke as they get older to a girl who worries about Luke now. I was sobbing my heart out at the end, and didn't want it to be over. The ending is touching and beautiful, and just made me cry harder. So, if you want a fantastic story of a first love, pick up the nearest copy of _Don't Die, My Love_. Don't forget your tissues.

I must confess I have read this book 15 times (I'm not exaggerating!) in the past two years! It is extremely sad and even if you have read it so many times that you can quote it, as I can, you will still cry your eyes out whenever you read or reread it!
Luke Muldenhower, a handsome, talented football player, and beautiful Julie Ellis are deeply in love and have been ever since middle school. Now, in high school the whole school knows they are a couple. Luke is sure to get an athletic scholorship to a top college and despite what her parents think, Julie is determined to go wherever Luke goes. But, when Luke can't ditch what he suspects is a cold, Julie convinces him to go to the doctor. Nothing prepared her for the news that Luke had Hodgkin's Lymphoma (a rare type of cancer). Julie is determined that Luke will get well, especially now when they have so much going for them...they are going to get married, go to college, and prepare to spend the rest of their lives together! Can their amazing love for each other hold tight through whatever life hands them?
If you like romantic, tear-jerking teen novels, you will love this book as I did!

"Don't Die, My Love" has got to be the best Lurlene McDaniel book. If you read this book, I suggest you have a box of tissue handy. How can a sweet, young, innocent guy get cancer at such a young age? I wish someone could answer that question. Luke and Julie seemed like the best couple ever and I can't believe the both of them (and their friends and family) had to go through this tragedy to realize how life is so precious and you shouldn't waste your life on insignificant matters. You will cry your eyes out because the fisrt time i read it, I was in 6th grade. Now I'm a 10th grader and it still brings tears to my eyes when I read it. The characters in this book is unforgettable. At least to me. The relationship Luke and Julie had was a strong one and they wouldn't let cancer get in the way. Life is for the living and make the most of what you got. That's the moral that I got form this book. This book is too good to be true but don't take my word for it. Read it yourself and don't forget the box of tissues!

I recently had the absolute pleasure of reading "Don't Die,My Love" by the astounding author Lurlene McDaniel. The book is so captivating and sad that i couldn't put it down.... sort of a Romeo and Juliet but with a few switches. Lurlene uses her wonderful creative mind to show two people , very much in love , that face a life threatening medical problem that tears them apart. As i was reading i started to feel as if i was the girl in the story, i was the one losing the one person that meant more to her than her own life... I hate to admit it but i was crying my eyes out by the last 50 pages of the book ... I used to not be very into romance novels like this... i used to be more of a R.L Stine person but now that i've had the chance to read some of Lurlene's work I will never go back to cheap horror again! So HURRY UP!! get your hands on this book as fast as you can, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!

As a long-time Lurlene McDaniel fan, perhaps I'm a bit biased, but this is truly a lovely story that blends romance with the right approach to realism. As a long-term Hodgkin's survivor diagnosed at age 15 - yes, I was a bit younger than Luke in the book - I find that too often people cling to the good prognosis so common in this type of cancer, ignoring that it isn't a totally rosy picture. L. McDaniel skillfully navigates the reality balance by creating a picture neither overly cheerful or inappropriately bleak. I've read books featuring teens with Hodgkin's, and hers are the *only* ones realistic enough to satisfy me. For an unrealistic view, go read the sappy love stories where people are miraculously considered cured after a few treatments. For the real thing, read Lurlene McDaniel - particularly this book.

This book was one of the best and saddest of hers. I have read almost all of her books and they have all been great books. They are also some of the only books for teenagers that don't have curse words. And can relate to real life for some people. When Luke finds out he has cancer it is hard for him, his mom and Julie to deal with it. But when Julie has confidence in him that he will live that shows how much she cares about him. And I think that you have a lot of canfidence that they will live even when you know they probably won't. But Luke knows that he wasn't going to make it, but it was sooo sweet whenn he gave her that promise rinng and said that they were going to get married. This was one of her best books, WHICH THEY ALL ARE!!!!!!

Lurlene McDaniel, first of all is a great aurtor. And takes great pride in her work. All of her books are great hits. By fare my favorit would have to be "Don't Die, My Love." It's a tear jerker, and will leave you searching for the tissues. It's as if the book was writen by Julie Ellis or a teen, but not a mother. Julie and Luke's love for each other is truly something teens wish and hope for. Even if your an adult reading this, it would make you think back to your teens years. (sorry no ofence to older people) I have read this book before and only have good things to say about it. Every time you read it somethin that didn't stick out that much the first time sticks out more the next time. Truly my favorit.
