Devout fan not all THAT happy with La Luna
am 12. September 2000
My apologies, folks. As a 2-year overdriven fan of Sarah Brightman, I might have overdone my craze for her by getting more of HER stuff than Andrea Bocelli's. This CD I HAD to get just to get the promotion to stop bugging me. Otherwise, I really didn't have to get it at all.
I made a Sarah Brightman website recently and added this to the list. There are excellent special effects at the beginning, but it's hard to say the songs that struck me most here. I will have to say that "Winter in July," "A Whiter Shade of Pale," and "Hijo De La Luna" are the bomb. Those are the few songs I actually like here, compared to many songs on "Time To Say Goodbye" and "Romanza" (an Andrea Bocelli CD). Heck, even "Eden" and "Fly" get my two thumbs up for their even dance-classical mix. "Scarborough Fair" and "La Califfa," and yes "La Luna" as well cannot be excluded from this, whilst they are not among my favorites. "This Love" and "Here With Me" make me laugh, as well as some remixes of "A Question of Honour" and "I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper," because whoever heard of a soprano going disco?
Not to offend Sarah, because hey. She's a versatile woman, and she'll do whatever she damn well pleases. It's good to see that her efforts paid off. Here in America, the CD entered our Billboard mainstream 200 at #16. This is higher than "Eden" and "TTSG" put together. Otherwise, sorry. I prefer those earlier works.
Now here is a woman who deserves her big break after 22 years of struggle.
