The book is not totally bad but could be seriously better. The book has some nice examples and ideas and it`s well designed. But all in all some descriptions are rather short and superficial. If you look for the important dos and don`ts about portfolio making it’s the wrong book. To create a good portfolio you should at least know some basics about typography and about how to place your objects on the paper or whatever you will use, if you don`t want to blame yourself. Here the book doesn`t help. It's a nice book to leave through and catch some inspiration but as a guide to build a solid portfolio form your work it`s not enough. Beginners might be disappointed. Following this the book price seems a little steep.
A very honest, profund guide to beginners in graphic design and illustration. Very helpful for people who need to position themselves on the marketplace. Vital information from experienced performers in the industry, and all that they dont tell you in art/design school.
