Looking for books crossing the line beyond the Microsoft SDK, this is my first choice. If you are involved in writing drivers or system design, just give it a buy. The book provides a complete overview about kernel debugging tools, IRQ levels, multiprocessor synchronisation, kernel design, drivers, ... Nevertheless, the book states to be a handbook even for network and system administrators. I'am not as confident as the author, that administrators are really happy with this book. The book is written from a system programmer for system programmers and delves deeply into the design of the windows kernel. And one has to note, the kernel is really another world. If you are not familar e.g. with concepts like IPC, some books about the SDK could be more helpful. Yes, I like the book. My wish to it: Scrunch the pillows of programmes of all sorts.
Entgegen der Ankündigung ist das Buch doch noch gerade rechtzeitig zum Verschenken angekommen. Ich selbst verstehe nichts von der Materie, aber der Beschenkte war sehr erfreut, also muss es wohl gut sein.
