The events that took place in 1991-1999 in all of Yugoslavia were horrible...but the men and women of all armed forces that participated in the operations can be proud of what they did to help stop the conflict.
As a crewmember on a NATO, multinational, airborne early warning aircraft I also was looking for him.
NATO did not leave him alone...planes were searching for him all over Bosnia ( no matter if they were french, british, italian and so on....) the emergency frequencies were constantly monitored to try to hear his emergency beacon or his voice....with his transmissions we were able to triangulate his position...a british NIMROD ew-aircraft even went feet-dry ober Bosnia to get a better fix on his position...
So this wasn't a US only rescue mission...we were all hoping and trying to find him!!!!
Godspeed Scott !!!!!

This true life story was based on Captain Scott O'Gradywho was an F-16 U.S. Air Force pilot. On his way to his destination point in Bosnia he was shot down by enemy pilots. Captain O'Grady parachuted five miles to the ground and he had no food or water. Scott O'Grady is considered a U.S.A. hero because of the skill, faith, and courage he had while fulfilling his duties as a member of the Air Force.

I am a veteran who's heart breaks when other servicemen are lost behind enemy lines. This books details the horror that Capt. O'Grady felt. The retrospective insights provided, allow the reader to understand that the warriors in combat are very human. The lessons of doing what is right, while not always easy, set excellent examples for children. I am donating my copy of this book to my children's school library. Hopefully, this true to life story will touch the hearts and minds of other children (and adults)as it has touched my family and me.

I loved this book. I have read it 3-5 times. My goals and ambitions is to be a F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter pilot in the Air Force the same as Capt. Scott O'Grady. I admire this guy. I admire his will to survive and his will to live. If I should ever be in his situation I will remember everything that he did to survive and I will not give up even if the going gets tough. Thanks Scott for telling us the true story from your point of view. I know it was a hellish ordeal but you survived and that is the most important thing.

What I thought of this book was that it was relly exciting. You could not stop reading it wondering what was going to happen next. The book gave good characteristics and you felt like you were there with Sott O'Grady tring to survive his journey. This book is for the grades 6 and up. Sometimes the book changed the subject but you were still intreted in it.

Basher Five Two is the call sign for Scott O'Grady, who is the pilot shot down over Bosnia, in his F-16 fighter aircraft. This adventure is all about his survival while in the woods after being shot down. He survived with almost no water., and no food. This is his tale of survival throughout the worst 6 days of his life.

Captain Scott O'Grady(Basher Five-Two)was shot down over Bosnia. Follow his adventures as he eludes Bosnian armed civilians and patrols. Scott O' Grady is the image I get of a good American F-16 pilot who will fight to the last man. This is a great fighting story.

Very exciting. Was like an Alfred Hitchcock story all though this time it is real. My whole class is going to read it. It is so cool. You can see it happening in your head. Very well done. It is also good that it has little bits of humor in it that is funny.
