Interesting read, but can get tiering in between

This is an interesting piece that portrays the struggle of a country to independence from one persons perspective. It gives a lot of details information and thereby also pays tribune to many characters that are not as popular and maybe forgotten in contrast to its famous writer.
I would advise to read it if one is very interested in South African history, wants to get a detailed overview of what happened and what did not, also in light of the countries current situation.
Personally i liked the part where Mandela is still rather young and the part where he is in prison most, as it seems to be most authentic, and relatively short. In other parts of the book it can get a bit tiering as he really puts a lot of detail into it.
- interesting read for SA fans and to check details
- otherwise a bit too long and specific
