When my grandaughter moved into table food, my son asked for some help. He and his wife were tired of eating and serving the same things. Of course, with table food came the independence of eating "by myself". The combination proved challenging for the family. After reviewing multiple books for "finger foods", I found Victoria Jenest's the best. Easy recipes, fun food for the entire family and healthy for all. I now give this book to friends and family when their meal time turns to a "battle of wills".
If you are going to only buy one baby/toddler cookbook, buy this one. The recipes are easy and babies love them. And all of the recipes are full of flavor and nutrients (not sugar and salt like the processed toddler food you buy at the store). My son is the pickiest eater alive and won't eat fruit and veggies in their natural state. However, he will eat them in these finger food recipes. Most of these recipes freeze well so you can thaw out individual portions as needed. I've recommended this book to many, many friends.
This book is great to start your children to a lifetime of good eating. My list of toddler foods was limited and they wouldn't eat much of what I gave them. This book changed all that. They like most everything in it and I know that they are eating healthy, tasty dishes. At first it can seem like you are cooking all the time, but most recipes can be frozen for later use. You will be surprised at what your child will eat! I recommended this book to my pediatrician who thinks it's great. I couldn't get along without it.
This cookbook has great ways to sneak in the ever contentious vegetable! The recipes are easy, quick, and I really appreciate the freezing suggestions. This makes providing nourishment a lot easier for a busy or working mom like myself. Being a visual person, pictures would make this book a five but hey, its a paperback and it is worth a try for the reasonable price. This book will give you some great ideas.
THIS BOOK IS GREAT! Recipes are simple and easy to follow. My two-year-old who would never eat anything but PB&J and frozen waffles now actually eats things like lemony tuna squares and sweet potato dumplings and says "Yummy!". The only thing this book is missing is pictures, which I would have really appreciated. You sure can't beat the price, though! Definitely worth the money.
This book is wonderful. It is filled with recipes that are nutritious, use common ingredients found at your local grocery store, and are easy to make (even for a not-so-great cook)! My child happily eats the dishes I have made so far. I highly recommend this book and could not be happier that I am giving my child proper nourishment that tastes so good!
I highly recommend this book. My 1 yr. old refused to eat vegetables unless I pureed them and spooned them in - this book changed that. He will now pick up veggies himself and is eating a lot more. The recipes are fast, nutritious and can be frozen, so it is easy to make a batch and then freeze the leftovers for a day when you have less time.
I recently bought this book and tried out about 10 recipies so far. I'm happy to say that my 1 year old loved each one! The recipies are easy with simple ingredients and make large portions which are freezeable. A godsend for working parents who don't always eat as healthy as they should. It's a great next step from jar food.
I had to make a special trip to the grocery store to get the items needed...spinnach, brussel sprouts, tofu and I even picked up some fish, even though I "hate" all of the above. It all turned out yummy enough for mom, dad, and older brother (older sister, is prejudiced against tofu).
This is the best child cook book I have read. The recipes are easy to make and the food is great! At first, I was a little turned off by it but the more I've used it the more I've come to love it. It has great recipes to make usual things fun and interesting. Healthy cooking made easy.
