"I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all." -- Acts 20:35-36 (NKJV)
When I read The Blind Side, I was fascinated by the generosity that Leigh Anne and Sean Touhy showed to Michael Oher. I wanted to better understand how they had become such cheerful givers. While Christians learn from the Bible that they are to be that kind of givers, many struggle in practice to behave that way.
When this CD came out, I was delighted to have a chance to hear the whole Touhy family talk about their Christian beliefs, their family backgrounds, and their giving practices. I learned a lot from it. I especially liked the Popcorn Theory, that we are to serve the needs of those who pop up in our vicinity.
I was also touched to realize that the ways they had received generosity from others led Leigh Anne and Sean Touhy to appreciate the importance of being such givers and how much it affects the lives of others. I counted my blessings about the generosity I've received and that reflection made me appreciate more ways I can share my time, effort, and money to make a difference.
I recommend this audio CD to anyone who has ever wondered how much to give. The answer is: We should give more . . . and cheerfully.
