Habe diese Soundkarte für meine Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm Kopfhörer gekauft. Ziel war es den Sound im allgemeinen zu verbessern und eine höhere Lautstärke zu erzielen. Dies ist mit dieser Soundkarte eindeutig gelungen.

Den Treiber habe ich mir über die Internetseite von Asus geladen, da ich mittlerweile kein CD/DVD Laufwerk mehr benutze. Die Software ist recht übersichtlich gestaltet, jedoch musste ich erst ein bisschen recherchieren um den Verstärker richtig einzustellen. Hier kann man zwischen 3 verschiedenen Einstellungen wählen, welche für verschiedene Kopfhörerimpedanzen (Ohm Angabe) bestimmt sind.

Von der Soundqualität bin ich persönlich sehr überzeugt. Sie ist natürlich noch besser als der Sound welcher direkt über das Mainboard geliefert wird. Da mein gesetztes Ziel somit erreicht werden konnte, bin ich sehr von der Soundkarte überzeugt.

Fazit: Da die Karte meinen persönlichen Anforderungen entspricht und ich bis jetzt zufrieden damit bin, kann ich die Karte empfehlen.

Gutes Upgrade zum Onboard Sound, leider nicht kompatibel mit meiner Kombi

Karte wurde als Upgrade zum Onboard Sound speziell wegen des integrierten Kopfhörerverstärkers und der Möglichkeit des Frontpanelanschlusses gekauft.

Die Xonar gibt's als "Einstiegsmodell" als DG (PCI) und DGX (PCIe) Variante. Für die Zukunft (nächster PC..) dachte ich, es wäre besser, PCIe zu nehmen. Leider hatte ich mit der DGX dann das Problem, dass sie in Kombi mit meinem Board (H87 Pro4 Asrock mit Bios 1.8 - zwecks Multicoreenhancement und einer GTX970) nicht korrekt erkannt wurde. Nach vielem Probieren mit den Bios settings habe ich sie dann doch zum Laufen bekommen. Sound ist gerade mit einem guten Hifi Kopfhörer (Beyerdynamics 931) echt eine sehr gute Aufwertung. Auch als Quelle für meine alten Pro2 Aktivboxen auch noch mal um einiges besser ggü. der verbauten Onboard Lösung (Realtek HD).

Leider hat die Karte im eingebauten Zustand dann nach dem Herunterfahren dauernd Neustarts nach 2 Sek hervorgerufen, die ich nicht wegbekommen habe. Beim Versuch, das zu analysieren/zu beheben, wurde sie dann auch nicht mehr erkannt (trotzdem dauernder Neustart), so dass ich mich schweren Herzens entschlossen habe sie zu retournieren und es noch mal mit der Xonar DG (PCI) zu versuchen --> eingebaut, sofort erkannt.. Treiber installiert - läuft .. glücklich.. Plan C wäre dann noch der Fiio E10K gewesen - für den Kopfhörer möglicherweise noch eine Ecke besser .. aber so passt's für mich in Sachen Preis/Leistung/Aufgeräumtheit super.

Im Rückblick.. (nachdem ich grad den KH aufhabe und mich drüber freu..) ..hätt ich mich schon viel früher entscheiden sollen, mal an den Sound ranzugehen..

Nachdem sich Freunde über meine Tonqualität im Teamspeak beschwert haben, habe ich mich dran gemacht, nach einem neuen Headset zu suchen. Gelandet bin ich dann bei der oft getätigten Empfehlung bei separatem Kopfhörer und Mikrofon. Da ich beim Onboard Sound skeptisch war, habe ich auch gleich eine Soundkarte noch dazu genommen.

Vor der Installation habe ich den Onboard Sound deaktiviert, da manche im Internet sagen es könnte Probleme machen. Den Treiber habe ich von der Webseite genommen, nicht von der CD, damits aktuell ist. Installation lief problemlos. Die Konfiguration vom Mikro und Mikrofon Boost ist im Audio Center etwas arg versteckt, aber Internet hilft weiter.

Im Vorher Nachher Vergleich vom Sound, jeweils mit den neuen Kopfhörern (Superlux HD 681 EVO) muss ich sagen, der Onboard Sound war ziemlich gut und die Xonar hat da für mich keinen hörbaren Unterschied gemacht. Ich habe es jetzt nicht zu genau untersucht, vielleicht ist da was im Detail, aber nicht drastisch. Mein Mainboard ist ein Asus H170 Gaming Pro und der Onboard Sound soll wohl ganz ok sein. Kann ich jetzt Bestätigen, zumindest im Vergleich zu einer günstigen Soundkarte. Es gibt ja auch Karten für 200 €, da will ich hoffen, dass die mehr rausholen. Aber durch die Xonar Software habe ich viele neue Möglichkeiten wie den Equalizer, Virtual Surround Möglichkeit in Spielen und sowas. Das gibts aber auch alles ohne extra Hardware. Und nach bisherigem Testen gefällt mir Stereo im Spiel noch am besten. Vielleicht muss man sich in den Klang vom Surround auch erst reinhören. Ist halt jetzt ungewohnt.

Für das Mikro ist der Unterschied aber drastisch. Vorher auf Lautstärke 80 und +20 DB Boost war das an der Grenze zu deutlich lautem Rauschen. Jetzt an der Xonar mit Boost (keine db einstellbar, nur an oder aus) und 100 Lautstärke immer noch kein hörbares Rauschen.

Also im Zweifel würde ich sagen, wenns nur im Ton geht, guter Onboard Sound ist da nicht schlechter. Ansonsten muss man vielleicht direkt richtig Geld investieren und eine 200€ Karte kaufen. Beim Mikro machts was aus, wenns bei euch rauscht. Aber da gibt es auch günstige USB Soundkarten um die 10 €, die dafür auch gute Dienste leisten sollen.

Trotzdem alles ok, funktioniert, keine Probleme, ich bin zufrieden.

Ich habe das Ding mal vor JAHREN gekauft, da machte es vielleicht auch noch ein bisschen Sinn. Mittlerweile ist es allerdings totaler Unsinn noch eine separate Soundkarte für den PC zu kaufen und einzubauen. Die allermeisten Onboard-Sound-Chips sind besser oder zumindest nicht schlechter als separate Soundkarten. Spart die paar Euro und investiert lieber in ein gutes DAC, oder noch besser in vernüftige Lautsprecher (nicht diese Logitech Plastikbomber, sondern vernünftige), da habt ihr deutlich mehr von.

Soundkarte eingebaut, Treiber habe ich von der Asus-Homepage runtergeladen und installiert und nicht die mitgelieferte CD verwendet. Danach musste ich lediglich meinem Windows 10 Home 64bit erklären das die Asuskarte die neue Hardware für Audioausgang ist und ich hatte Ton. Da ich keine Hifi-Anlage und nur geringe Lautstärke verwende merke ich akustisch keinen Unterschied zum Onboardsound der Mainboard, außer das Grundrauschen bei Max.Volume ist bei der Asus-Karte halb so stark, was ich vorallem bei meinen Kopfhörern merke wenn Stille eintritt. Gefällt mir! Der Treiber von Asus und mein bereits vorhandener Realtek-Audiomanager kommen sich nicht in die Quere.

I bought this to replace my old Soundblaster Audigy 4, which had problems with mic stuttering in Windows 7. I have to say given its price this card has exceeded all my expectations. Sound quality is great, as good or better than the soundblaster it replaced, and significantly better than my motherboards onboard audio. A particularly great feature is the built in headphone amp. On a lot of soundcards volume levels through headphones are far too low as the card is expecting amplified speakers, not a problem here as you can use the control panel that installs with the cards drivers to have the card amplify the sound. There are 3 levels, each for different usage scanarios and/or types of headphones. The only downside and the reason it has 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no hardware midi support, only software playback. Given that even the cheapest cards have had hardware playback for years now it seems an odd decision not to include it. However it is only a minor issue at most and for the majority of people a non issue. A highly recommended soundcard, especially if you use headphones often

I'm not an audiophile (but know when something sounds good) and was forced into a soundcard purchase due to a surge that fried my old one. But I'm very happy with this purchase and think it's incredible value.
I question anyone that suggest this vastly improved the sound performance as this also depends on speakers, input quality and cables - but there is a feeling that this little beauty is better at separating sounds and creating echo which has had a positive impact on music quality. The outputs don't say it but my single jack to 2 speakers and a sub works great in the "center" socket and although I'm not using it, the optical out will no doubt be handy when I upgrade my speaker system.
Careful with the install, guide says windows will automatically pick it up but it didn't on my 64 bit windows 8.1 system and it took a visit to control panel and some dvd directory searching to get it going.
No idea why anyone other than professionals would buy anything else as technology advancement on soundcards, like processors is at a minimum so why spend £50 when £23 ticks so many boxes.
Oh and bought saturday at 7pm, delivered monday at 9am. Well done Amazon!

Got this sound card because my on board packed up read mixed reviews about it but decided to go for it. In the past I have used Creative sound cards but having purchased a Asus Laptop for my wife about 18 months ago and found this to be excellent decided on Asus for the sound card for my computer

Installing it was all so so easy first I disable the on board in the Bios and uninstalled the drivers on the computer installed the PCIe sound card installed the drivers from the CD provided ( They were the latest )and hey presto the sound card worked. Brilliant sound loud solid and thick going through 2x1 Creative speaker set up and the headphone sound is also superb Love it what a good purchase and an absolute bargain. Ok so I've had this soundcard for a day now, and I'm fairly impressed. . . for £20 you can't really complain.
I have a Maximus V Gene board, and I was hoping this would work in the PCI-E X4 slot, but it only works in the PCI-E X16 slot, which now locates it directly beneath my GPU
It's not a huge issue as the card doesn't take up much airflow space, but not ideal.

I was hesitant to buy one as I was pleased enough with the onboard realtek, but this does sound abit crisper, speakers I'm using are creative T20s, I also have Sehnniser HD 25s, which have quite a high impedance (70 ohm) which is why I bought this card, to help boost the sound and also a TB headset, which I thought it would help but it sounds worse tbh, (it's quite a rubbish headset so I might get a new one). . . anyway I've downloaded the Uni drivers for this, not the official ones from Asus

Final thoughts: great for the money, but as someone else mentioned, it is a budget entry level card, I will probably be replacing it in 6 months, but it's worth £20

I broke the front-panel on my PC case, and the on-board audio only had a headphone amp to the front. This resulted in me having to plug my earphones into the Headphone socket at the back of the case - Impractical, and gives awful sound.

I decided to buy a dedicated sound card, and I have no regrets. This sound card has a Headphone amplifier to the front and back, so I can have and extension running from the rear headphone socket, and still get great Headphone sound.

When used in combination with some decent Headphones, the sound is clear as day. The bass is not too much, which may be a negative for people who like bass that will blow your eardrums. For me, the clarity of a song is essential, and this sound card provides this, whether it be Techno, Jazz, Classical, or any other music genre.

Installation is easy, just remember to actually screw the bracket into the case, otherwise it is impossible to plug things in without the card coming out of the slot.

The Dolby Virtual Surround is okay. It takes a bit to get used to, as everything sounds like it is in a massive room. It is useful for games etc, and movies also make use of it too, providing they have 5.1 support.

The price is great, and I can not vision myself buying a more expensive sound card - the sound on this one is so impressive that I can't imagine anything being better.
