Der Adapter selbst funktioniert einwandfrei. Leider wurden einige Pins nicht nach außen geführt, die das automatische Zurücksetzen der Microchips nach dem flashen ermöglichen. Ich habe daher zwei Pin-Header auf den Adapter gelötet und die Schutzhülle an den entsprechenden Stellen aufgefräst. Der Adapter fühlt sich im Allgemeinen sehr hochwertig an und läuft durch den FTDI Chip sehr stabil.

    Nachtrag vom 27.5.2024 für Linux-User: Wer den DSD-Tech unter Linux, z. B. mit Putty an ttyUSB0 verwenden will, muß erfahrungsgemäß keine Treiber installieren. Zumindest bei nichtanachronistischen Betriebssystemen. Wohl muß man den Benutzer aber zu den Gruppen uucp, tty und dialout hinzufügen:

    sudo usermod -a -G uucp $USER
    sudo usermod -a -G tty $USER
    sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USER

    , sonst gibt es einen "Access denied"-Fehler.

    Weiter mit der ursprünglichen Rezension: Brauchte das Produkt zum Flashen von ESP8266, Shelly und diversen anderen IoT-Devices.

    Das Produkt kam intakt an, keine losen SMD-LEDs, keine schlampigen Löstellen (zumindest insoweit ich das mit meiner Zeiss-Lupe ohne Zerstörung des Gehäuses beurteilen kann), die Platine im glasglaren Gehäuse praktisch und sicher untergebracht, USB-A-Stecker maßhaltig und ohne Macken, RS232-seitig war ein Nullmodemjumper angebracht, so kann man die grundlegende Funktion gleich mit PUTTY überprüfen.

    Nach Treiberinstallation (von der Website ftdichip.com dem Verweis auf "VCP Drivers" - Virtual COM Port - folgen und dann beispielsweise "CDM v2.12.28 WHQL Certified.zip" herunterladen, es gibt auch Varianten für Linux, WinCE und Mac OS) funktionierte der Adapter sofort einwandfrei zuverlässig bis zur maximalen Baudrate.

    Es scheint sich beim Chipsatz um einen originalen FTDI FT232RL und keinen der zahlreichen, minderwertigen Chinaklone zu handeln, jedenfalls gab es mit FT_PROG 3.10.132.511 - EEPROM Programming Utility (ftdichip.com | Support | Utilities) keine Auffälligkeiten. Es hat sich daher gelohnt, ein paar Euro mehr auszugeben.

    Bonus: Flachbandkabel mit Pfostensteckern auch gleich mit dabei, zum Shelly-Tasmota-Flashen also keine weitere Hardware notwendig. Bitte beachten: Den Shelly unbedingt(!) vom 230V-Netz trennen und den DSD Tech USB-TTL-Serielladapter auf 3V(!) einstellen. Sonst gibts Ärger.

    Das Gehäuse ist schon relativ groß.

    Was auffällig stört, ist die Farbwahl der des mitgelieferten Kabel.
    Schwarz sollte gnd und rot vcc sein, das wäre deutlich besser.
    Das Kabel kann man natürlich eh tauschen, aber warum man das so gemacht hat ist sehr fraglich.
