    Vorneweg: Vielleicht mag die Bezeichnung Konzeptalbum manchen zu hoch gegriffen erscheinen, aber man merkt dem Album wirklich an, dass es eine Einheit darstellt. Es ist ein typisches Album, wo ich nicht vornehmlich einzelne Tracks hören möchte, sondern das Album komplett von vorne bis hinten.

    Zugegeben, beim ersten Hören war ich etwas enttäuscht vom Album, dachte wie soll dieses Zeug mit dem Bekannten Kram von Avenged Sevenfold (bspw. dem Nightmare-Album) mithalten, aber der Outro-Song hat mich dann doch sehr beeindruckt und ich hab noch ein zweites und drittes Mal reingehört... und dann hat es langsam gezündet. Definitiv ein Album, das einige Anläufe braucht, sich aber dann richtig entfaltet!

    Ausgeprägtere Instrumentalparts, ausgeprägtere Orchestral- oder auch nur Streicher- oder Bläserparts als früher.
    Ansonsten wie gewohnt auch viele ruhigere Momente, die sich aber zuverlässig immer wieder zur gewohnten Härte aufbauen.
    Okay, der Sound ist weniger auf-die-Fresse als früher, was aber dazu passt, dass das ganze Album komplexer und vielschichtiger wirkt. Evolution done right.
    Letztendlich ist es wie mit jeder anderen Band auch, Stillstand bedeutet Rückschritt, eine Band wird nie die von Fans geliebten alten Songs nochmal "in besser" schreiben. Wer die alten Sachen hören will, soll die alten Sachen hören. Gerade A7X-Fans sollten wissen, dass hier eine Entwicklung von Album zu Album stattfand, so geht's auch jetzt weiter. Und es ist schön mitzuerleben, was dabei herauskam.

    Das letzte Album (Hail to the king) reizte mich so garnicht, das war für meinen Geschmack genau das Prinzip "alte Sachen (größtenteils von anderen Bands) neu auflegen" und damit zwar von der Idee her nett, aber wirkte auf mich eher uninspiriert.
    Zum Glück schlägt das neue Album in eine ganz andere Kerbe und geht den Schritt in Richtung "musikalisch intelligenter und anspruchsvoller".

    Hammer Album, sehr großes Kino, viel Kopfnicken aber auch viele Gänsehautmomente und ein echt tolles "aus einem Guss"-Gefühl!

    Höre das Album gerade zum 9. Mal, es ist unglaublich wie sich das Album von Mal zu Mal gesteigert hat! Inzwischen ist es mein Lieblingsalbum von Avenged Sevenfold. Empfehlung: Unbedingt mehrmals hören! Nach dem ersten Durchlauf fand ich es auch nur "ok", es wirkte alles sperrig und zu konstruiert. Beim 2./ 3. Mal hörte ich es mit Kopfhörern, und ich bekam eine Gänsehaut nach der anderen! Musikalisch ist es einfach ein Brett! Die beste Gitarrenarbeit überhaupt von Synyster Gates, die Soli sind einfach episch! Mit "Creating God" und dem 16min-Monster " Exist" verewigt er sich auf dem Gitarren-Olymp! Aber auch der neue Schlagzeuger überzeugt auf ganzer Linie und bietet mehr als solide Arbeit, die Fills passen zu jeder Zeit! Das gesamte Album hat dabei einen enormen Wiederhör-Wert! Creating God und Sunny Disposition( toller Trompeten/Hörner? Einsatz) wissen mit Hard Rock, Thrash-Metal und ner Portion Jazz zu überzeugen, hier erinnern die Songs an "Faith No More's The Real Thing", im speziellen an "Epic". "Angel" und "Roman Sky" sprechen eher ruhigere Töne an, hier geht es in Richtung Blues, Rock. Gerade Roman Sky erinnert an Led Zeppelin. Der Gesang bei "Angel" von Frontman M. Shadows ist einfach famos, hier zeigt er seine große Bandbreite seiner Stimme. Das Album gipfelt mit "Exist" in einem Riff-Feuerwerk der allerbesten Sorte, komplex, spirituell und magisch. Fazit: 9,5/10 ...

    Kennengelernt habe ich Avenged Sevenfold durch 'Nightmare' - insbesondere da Mike Portnoy hier an den Drums ausgeholfen hat. Das Album habe ich als sehr, sehr gut in Erinnerung. Hier hatten mich der Titelsong und 'Save Me' vollends umgehauen. Wieder Erwarten ist aber 'The Stage' noch deutlich stärker!
    Auch hier ist ein bärenstarker Drummer am Werk und dieser integriert sich bestens. Die Songs gehen nach zwei- oder dreimaligem Hören voll ins Ohr, sind aber nicht zu einfach gestrickt, als dass sie schnell langweilig werden. Eine für mich astreine Mischung ;-)
    Das tolle daran ist, dass die Songs sehr abwechslungsreich gestaltet sind: fette Thrash-Riffs, Groove-Monster, Akustik-Parts, Twin-Leads und ein starker Sänger - alles dabei. Von mir von daher eine glasklare Kaufempfehlung.

    Das letzte Album von A7X empfand ich als sehr schlecht und langweilig. Ich konnte es mir nicht einmal aktiv anhören, da es mir überhaupt nicht gefiel; für mich klang es einfach überhaupt nicht nach der Band, die ich kenne und liebe.
    Das neue Album hat für mich wieder alles retten können. Es ist meiner Meinung nach nicht so gut wie einige der älteren Alben, übertrifft das letzte aber um Längen. Ich bin sehr froh wieder etwas neues von - meiner Meinung nach einer der besten Bands - zu hören, das auch wie diese klingt. Daumen hoch!!!

    Nach dem ersten Hören des Albums war ich erstmal sehr verwirrt ob der plötzlichen Umschwünge in Tempo und Stil, ließ mich davon jedoch nicht abschrecken und ließ es noch ein paar Mal durchlaufen. Eine gute Entscheidung! Das Konzept erschließt sich nicht direkt, aber wenn man dem Album die Zeit gibt, die es braucht, fallen die wohl durchdachten Texte und die großartigen Instrumente, sowie der nochmal gesteigerte Gesang auf. Auch der neue Schlagzeuger scheint der Band gut zu tun. Insgesamt ein sehr zufrieden stellendes Album, das garantiert niemanden langweilen dürfte.
