The band started as a cover band in 1995, then still under the name Cherry Pie. This great stage experience has led to the founding of Crystal Ball and under this banner they have become one of Europe's leading greats in the hard rock genre.
With In The Beginning, Crystal Ball launched their crusade in 1999. The first album was very successful, but has been loosely surpassed by his successor Hard Impact. This has been praised by various magazines as an album of the month. This was followed by a successful tour as a pregroup of Pretty Maids. No one could hide from Crystal Ball anymore. The result: a new record deal with the industry giant Nuclear Blast! With Virtual Empire, Crystal Ball 2002 showed themselves more varied, yet traditional and melodic. The band has long toured through Europe, first with Dokken, then with U.D.O., Doro and Krokus.
2003 follows the fourth album HELLvetia which has been produced by the former accept / U.D.O. member Stefan Kaufmann. The rough HELLvetia has greatly underlined the success of Crystal Ball. Successful tours with Axxis, Pink Cream 69 and Krokus have given Crystal Ball a bigger fan base once again.
Timewalker offered fans catchy songs full of freshness and power. Produced again by Kaufmann, the album showcased the extraordinary class of Crystal Ball. Following the release in 2005, the first headlining tour followed along with the then label buddies Thunderstone. In 2007, Crystal BALL signed a new record deal with AFM Records. Secrets , her sixth album, became a great piece of Hard Rock, produced by Michael Bormann.
In 2013, the legendary Swiss hard rock band Crystal Ball returned with the album Dawnbreaker; stronger than ever! As a power transfusion, the two original members Scott Leach and Marcel Sardella brought the great frontman Steven Mageney from Wuppertal on board, whose convincingly voluminous voice fits perfectly with the new sound of Crystal Ball.
The band completed 40 shows in six countries following the release of their album Dawnbreaker. The very successful tours with Crocus and The Poodles confirmed every concert goer: The Balls are back... for good!
Only a year and a half later, Crystal Ball followed up vigorously with the album LifeRider (2015). The album received very positive reviews everywhere and is titled by a great many fans and journalists as the best Crystal Ball album to date.
With LifeRider, Crystal Ball creates the balancing act between classic hard rock and modern metal. The guest appearance of Battle Beast singer Noora Louhimo (duet Eye To Eye) puts the icing on this excellent production.
Tony T.C. Castell (ex-crocus) joins the band in 2015 and replaces Markus Flury.
Successful shows followed, e.g. as support from the Scorpions or Thunder, as well as a collaboration with musicians of the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, who performed live with Crystal Ball.
