Product description
After the world bestseller by successful author Ken Follett. A modern fairy tale about longing, love and human abysses.
Contents
London, mid-19th century: the bank house of the respected Pilaster family is one of England's most influential banks, but the internal power struggle threatens to bring the pillars of power to collapse. Augusta Pilaster (Jeanette Hain) drives her intrigue behind the facade of prosperity and does not shy away from playing with fire. When young Hugh Pilaster (Dominic Thorburn) falls in love with Maisie (Laura de Boer), an adventurous working-class girl, but sees no future for her connection, he leaves London to start a new life in the US. Six years later, he returns as a respected banker and with his wife Nora (Yvonne Catterfeld) to find that Maisie has married his friend Solly (Albrecht Abraham Schuch) and had a son. The disappointment sits deep as Hugh's feelings for Maisie still haven't gone out.
Press note
In the tension field of Victorian England in the middle of the 19th century, Ken Follett ("Pillars of the Earth", "The Gates of the World") makes his figures collide in a time when family, origin and honour decide about being and not being. The novel sold over 7 million copies worldwide. Grimme Prize winner Christian Schwochow ("Der Turm") lays his cinematic vision over the plot and takes the viewer into an unfamiliar, with its human and economic problems, but timeless and current world, in which humanity is the last pillar of power for all involved. The cast consists of Dominic Thorburn, Laura de Boer ("Always different"), Yvonne Catterfeld ("Beauty and the Beast"), Jeanette Hain ("Honey in the Head"), Axel Milberg ("Ruby Red") and Rolf Hoppe ( "Schtonk!" ).

Inhalt:
Solly will Maisie heiraten, doch Hugh verführt Maisie.
