    Wer diese Scheiben hat, der braucht eigentlich nur noch eine: Slide it in. Das waren und sind die großen Werke des David Coverdale mit seiner Band, auch wenn 1987 und Slip of the Tongue mehr verkauft haben. Hier hört man den souligen Bluesrock der britischen Inkarnation der Band, brillant besetzt mit Coverdale und seinen Ex-Purple-Kollegen Lord und Paice, dem Gespann Marsden und Moody an den Gitarren und Neil Murray am Bass, der bisweilen beinahe jazzige Läufe beisteuert. Grundsolider Rock mit zum Teil großen Melodien, viel Gefühl, viel Wärme und Witz - und der Originalversion von Here I go Again. Eine Anschaffung fürs Leben!

    Ein Boxset mit fast allen wesentlichen Whitesnake-Alben (fast, da lediglich Slide It In fehlt). Wer nicht alle CDs schon beisammen hat, kann hier auf einfache und unkomplizierte Weise seine Sammlung ergänzen oder vervollständigen. Das kommt, wie bei mir, auch Liebhabern von Ex-Deep-Purple-Frontman David Coverdales Soloband zugute, die nicht auf Platten wie 1987 (alias Whitesnake oder Serpens Albus), Slip Of The Tounge, etc. stehen. Meiner Meinung nach hatte die Gruppe nach Slide It In den Wendepunkt erreicht. Schade daher, dass gerade diese Platte hier nicht dabei ist.

    Einzelne Alben, oder gar Lieder, herauszufiltern und zu kommentieren würde hier womöglich den Rahmen sprengen. Daher kurz meine Top 3:

    1. Lovehunter
    2. Come An'Get It
    3. Ready An'Willing

    Natürlich rein hypothetisch. Geschmäcker sind verschieden und diese Auswahl beschränkt sich hier auf den Boxinhalt.

    Abschließend kann man nur sagen, dass man als Whitesnake-Neuling der einmal Blut geleckt hat (man beachte die EP Snakebite) einen soliden Start für die eigene Sammlung bekommt und man relativ preiswert eine Zusammenstellung von Alben der (spätestens mit dem Einstieg von Jon Lord und Ian Paice) besten Deep-Purple-Nachfolgeformation bekommt.

    Excellent collection of Whitesnake’s early (and best) albums, remastered and at a great price! Pick this up while you can to trace the history of Whitesnake’s blues rock from early recordings, great live albums, and solid songwriting right up to their MTV era. That being said, I’d still include Slide It In (not included in this box) as the last great release of the band, before it became a revolving door of Coverdale’s hired guns.
    The remastered CDs sound awesome and each comes in a cardboard album sleeve. There’s also a 16 page booklet with track listings and lyrics. With this box, I’ve filled in all the missing pieces of my Whitesnake collection while replacing the titles I already owned with far better sounding versions. Currently, Amazon has this priced at $30 and you won’t find a better deal for 8 CDs of classic blues rock of this caliber.

    Los primeros albumes de whitesnake, los mejores aunque me hubiera gustado que incluyera el album slide it in para que todo hubiera sido perfecto, de todos modos este album lo tengo desde hace tiempo en CD y varios de los que incluye la caja tambien los tengo en vinilo, asi que contento porque se oyen bien todos los cd's que tiene la caja. Lo único que no me gusta es cómo vienen los cd's que no vienen en su caja de plástico sino en un cartón, por eso creo que tienen ese buen precio, la verdad es que merece la pena si no quieres gastarte mucho dinero cómo podrían costar cada CD por separado en su caja de plastico...
