Nightmare, the new album the band worked on when drummer Jimmy Sullivan died at the end of December last year, seemed to become a very dark masterpiece, a concept album that begins a journey through madness, despair and death.

On Nightmare, Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy played the challenging drum parts and Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Regina Spektor) took on the role of producer.

Producer Elizondo was already on board before Rev s death. An admittedly strange combination for outsiders, but not for the band: he came to us wanting to do the record as a fan of the band and as a fellow musician , says Vengeance. His repertoire consisted of massive rap, and some country, pop, hip-hop .

In summary, this album is a mix of the entire history of AVENGED SEVENFOLD . One can hear both the band's earliest influences and inspirations, as well as the broad spectrum of individual tastes that have evolved over the years.

    Ich stieß durch einen sehr glücklichen Zufall vor etwa einem Jahr auf Avenged Sevenfold. Nach geraumer Zeit nahm ich mir vor, mir ein Album dieser Band zu kaufen um zu schauen ob mich diese Musik anspricht - und ich muss sagen ich habe nicht falsch entschieden. Völlig blind und ohne irgendwelche Ahnungen über diese Band lud ich es mir runter und bereue es kein Stück. Jedes Lied dieses Albums ist perfekt und fesselt mich auf seine eigene Art, egal ob das rockige Lied "Nightmare" oder die wunderschöne Ballade "So Far Away.". Ich bin wirklich glücklich das ich mir dieses Album runtergeladen habe und ich denke es wird nicht mein letztes Album von Avenged Sevenfold, kurz a7x sein. (:

    da ich alle scheiben der band besitze und die abwechslung und plötzlichen richtungswechsel in ihren stücken mag, musste ich natürlich auch diese scheibe haben.
    zu allererst muss ich sagen, aus meiner sicht ist das kein typisches a7x album. zwar klingt der opener noch vertraut, dann aber schlägt das album eine komplett andere richtung ein. als stilbruch würde ich das dennoch nicht bezeichnen!!! wer sich nun auf harte riffs und brachiale gitarren soli freut, dem sei gesagt, es geht auch ein wenig "seichter".
    ich war selbst verwundert, als ich mir das album das erste mal angehört habe und hab mich gefragt, was ich davon halten soll, aber nach mehrmaligen "repeats" muss ich gestehen, ich liebe dieses album. man merkt, dass auch hier viele ideen in jedes einzelne stück eingeflossen sind, die aber zusammen harmonieren und zu überzeugen wissen. keine billigen 08/15 lieder, sondern ausgeklügelte, teilweise traurige lieder (weiss man um den tod des schlagzeugers james "the rev" sullivan).
    zusammenfassend kann ich das album nur empfehlen, auch wenn ich als freund, der härteren gangart zuerst verdutzt war.
    gelungen, ideenreich, melodisch und es sind ja nun nicht alle lieder melancholisch. es sind auch ein paar härtere dabei :)

    wer mehr wissen will, muss einfach mal selbst reinhören

    Ich bin unvorbereitet zu A7X gestoßen als ich gelesen habe dass Portnoy hier ausgeholfen hat. Und was muss ich sagen...nachdem ich auch in frühere und dem neuen Album reingehört habe, ist Nightmare für mich das Beste, da vielseitig, tolle Vocals, geniales Drumming (wohl an den Ideen Revs orientiert, doch MP macht das einfach rund) und super Arrangements.
