Andreas Diekmann, Prof. Dr. rer. pol., geb. 1951 in Lübeck; Studium der Soziologie, Psychologie und Methodenlehre an den Universitäten Hamburg und Wien. Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Hamburg (bis 1980), 1980-84 Assistent am Institut für Höhere Studien in Wien, 1984-87 Akademischer Rat am Institut für Soziologie der Universität München. Habilitation 1987 an der Universität München, Wissenschaftlicher Leiter am "Zentrum für Umfragen, Methoden und Analysen" (ZUMA) in Mannheim (1987-89). Professor für Statistik und Sozialwissenschaftliche Methodenlehre an der Universität Mannheim (1989-90). Direktor des Instituts für Soziologie an der Universität Bern und Professor für Empirische Sozialforschung und Sozialstatistik (1990-2003). Seit 2003 Professor für Soziologie an der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) Zürich.
