Moki's paintings are captivating. There's a strange allure in them that can hold your attention. Perhaps it's the fine art quality, maybe the optical illusions in some, or even the strange beings that live in her paintings.
The paintings have a theme of nature. There are landscapes carved suspiciously to resemble something but I just can't make out what they are. There are also animals, beautifully illustrated, some of then blending into the background like a camouflage.
The humans that appear are usually covered with blankets that seem to be made of nature itself, be it a ground canopy, granite floor, or even the surface of a running stream.
The couple of black and white paintings included are very different from her coloured ones. They are inhibited mainly by silhouettes of humans and unknown creatures. In one painting, there's this group of silhouettes carrying what seem like a river on their shoulders while walking across land.
Beautiful art book.
