The cover for this novel is amazing: so lively, catchy and beautiful. The colours are great and the bride in the middle makes it seem so alive. Let’s just say I loved it, still do of course.
The beginning of this story is awesome. After a few words I was already deep in it and it turned out to be a great page turner.
Reading the diary of my best friend, it would never even cross my mind, but our female lead did it and I loved the way Jill described these scenes. As a reader I exactly knew how Anna felt and her emotions were described brilliantly. Although Anna did a “bad” thing with reading her best friend's diary she was so likable from the start.
What she reads makes her world turn upside down and she doesn’t know what do to. What would you do, if you find out your fiancé is having an affair with your best friend? I honestly woudn’t know what do do, I’d probably flee. Anna’s best friend Ben wants to help, but can’t seem to find the right words and after staying one night at his cottage (where something “almost” happens between them) Anna goes away. I kind felt that there was something special between Anna and Ben, I just wasn’t sure in what way yet and I was so curious to find out.
I love what Anna experiences in Hollisea and the people she meets there are great, every single one of them special in their own way. Anna can pretend to be someone else, but she still has people to talk to. Dave is an attractive character and I liked Anna a lot with him. The things that happened between them weren’t predictable at all, which made this story so interesting.
Of course Anna still had to face reality and when her fiancé, best friend and Ben turn up, the drama is really getting started. I couldn’t put the book down at this point. Some lively conversations and feelings were included, perfectly written.
I didn’t like Anna’s decisions that much at this point of the story, because I would have reacted differently, but it gave the story the right twists.
You’re still wondering till the end, which men is the right one for her, until some sentences before it ends. The ending was a bit abrupt for my taste, but otherwise I absolutely loved this wonderful novel.
Great job Jill! So gripping, vivid, enjoyable and fascinating!!! ♥
