Wow, we finally got to know what really happened four years ago when Dr. Tom Brandt has been murdered. What a rocky road to justice! I was shocked and heartbroken when I read the last chapters of this book. Now I'm curious if this will lead to a happy end for Sarah and Frank but I guess I have to be patient and just read the next books. Well done, Mrs. Thompson!!

When Matt McKinney accompanies his cousin to the beach, he is not there for a good time. The Navy SEAL is still coping with the lost of his best friend and fellow SEAL XX and is on a forced leave. Therefore, love is the last thing on his mind - but life has other plans for him.

Abby Davis is taking her four little ones to their first vacation. They have lost their father nearly six months ago and Abby is pregnant with her fifth child and still trying to hold her little family together. When her five year old son befriends a tall sexy stranger on the beach, the last thing on her mind is a relationship. The last one she had was a disaster and left her more vulnerable than before.

When those two met, the sparks fly. Add in four adorable little kids who are desperate for some attention as their father was never really there and Matt doesn't stand a chance. But can he break the promise he made to his dying friend and give true love a chance? And can Abby trust a man with her heart again after being disappointed her whole life?
-------------------------------------------
I was in love with this story from the start. Those kids are just so cute, you can't help but fell in love with them, just like Matt did. My heart broke for Abby and all the disappointments she had to suffer in her life. Well, Matt in his promise.. it was honorable but how can you live your life on the promise to someone who is no longer here?! I wanted to scream at him but in the end all turned out okay.

I think the best part of this book were Annie, Jack, Gracie and Charlie! Claudia Connor wrote a heartwarming story which is one of the highlights of my reading year 2016. Don't miss it!

Cole Masten is Hollywood's hottest actor and he and his wife, actress Nadia Smith, are the Golden Couple - until they aren't. After five years of marriage, Cole finds his wife cheating on him with the director of her current movie project. Being served with divorce papers shortly after let him loose control. Instead of concentrating on his biggest project, he is out partying hard and screwing countless girls to forget about Nadia and her betrayal which hurt him deeply.

After his attorney sets him straight, he is sent to the little town Quincy, Georgia to get his new movie project on the way. He is told to keep his head low and his dick in his pants until the divorce is final to prevent Nadia from taking all the money, especially big movie deal: the first movie he plans to finance, "The Fortune Bottle".

Summer Jenkins lives in Quincy almost all her life and since the break-up from her fiance three years ago she is an outcast in the little town. She has no friends and lives a silent life with her mother as the caretaker of a big house.

When Cole and Summer meet it is hate on first sight. He acts the snobby actor he is and the southern girl is all but not impressed by him. But karma is a bitch and soon Summer finds herself in the middle of the movie and there is something to be said about "opposites attract"..
------------------------------------------------------------
It was my first book from Alessandra Torre and her writing was excellent. I was hooked from the start and it was like some screwball comedy to watch. Feisty Summer and arrogant Cole were like water and oil - but somehow they fit together.

I was really curious to find out what happened three years ago at the rehearsal dinner but it was revealed late in the book. Personally, I did not think it was so bad what she did. I thought she shot Bobby Jo or something like that. She and Scott and all their friends got what they deserved for treating Summer like she was dirt.

The chicken/rooster thing was hilarious! I never found rooster cute but here it was perfect. Same goes for the paper bag visit to Walmart which had me laughing so hard. I loved the story very much and it will not be my last book from Alessandra Torre.

Salomé Casillas is in her late twenties and she is a successful soccer player for the Houston Pipers. Since she was little, she had a crush on the international soccer star Reiner Kulti and he was the reason she started playing soccer. Only after an incident with her brother did this crush fade a little bit but never in her life had she imagined meeting him in person - until the management of the Pipers hired him as co-coach for the women's team.

But nothing could have prepared Sal for the real life Reiner Kulti - who is rude, moody and in general not a nice person. After he insulted her father who is the biggest fan of Kulti ever, Sal had enough and confronts him about his rude behaviour. Suddenly, he starts to take an interest in the team and most of all: he starts to see Sal. From now on he is like Dr. Jekyll und Mr. Hyde - one moment he is acting like she is his best friend and the next he is having a tantrum and the worst word vomit is coming out of his mouth. This will be the longest season ever for Salomé..
-----------------------------------------------
What a cute book! I'm a huge soccer fan and was really looking forward to reading this book. I liked Sal from the first moment but this diva Kulti was something else.. He was giving me (and Sal) whiplash with his behaviour but I guess it is not so farfetched. Sal's dad was a great character and I wished there was a bit more about her siblings, especially Eric but it was great nevertheless.

When I read about her grandfather, I pictured an older version of Diego Maradona. It sounded just like him with what we got to read about him in the papers. The names of the German players had me laughing since it sounded a little bit clichéd - Franz and Reiner are not really very popular names in Germany. Franz Beckenbauer is at least a generation older than Kulti and Koch in this book but it made me smiling while reading about them. My imagination was running wild who could have been on Mariana's mind while writing this book.

A great story and interesting characters put this book on my all-time-favorite-list.

Neena Bateman is twelve years old and she is dying from leukemia. The last chance is her father whom she never met. Paul James left her mother Clara before she was born and she never met him. For Neena it is her last wish before dying, to finally get to know her dad. This is why she posts a heartbreaking letter on the internet: Desperately seeking Epic.

Paul "Epic" James is a former stuntman and the co-owner of a skydiving company which is part owned by him and Clara. For thirteen years, Paul never looked back at what could have been if he hadn't left Clara - since he always told her: I don't do babies and I don't do picket fences. When Clara is told that Neena has roughly six months to one year left, she tricks Paul into returning to Virginia by cutting off his money. When a fuming Paul finally arrives at the doorstep of his company and demands some answers, the last thing he expects is this twelve year old frail little girl who is dying - and it shatters him to learn that she is his daughter and that Clara never bothered to tell him about her until now when she is dying. How can he still be in love with this woman he could never forget when she betrayed him so deeply?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This book brought me to my knees. I have never ever cried so much when reading a book and never after only 5%. I started yesterday in the late afternoon and was finished in the early morning hours around 4:30am because I could not stop reading even though I sometimes cried so hard, I could hardly see the letters anymore. I try to find words to do right by this book because for now, it is my absolute highlight of this years with nothing else following even close. Let me try..

The author described the dying of your own kid so intense and genuine, I feared she has lost a child herself. Luckily, this seems not be the case here. However, starting with a sick but still vibrant Neena and seeing her fade away with absolutely nothing her parents could do.. it broke my heart bit by bit in little pieces. Seeing her fear of dying and her anger at being cheated out of the life she deserves by this disease is gutting you. The unconditional love of her mother and father who both would gladly have given their lives for her.. chilling. I was constantly wiping away tears when I followed Paul and Clara on their journey loosing their only child.

Due to the letter on the internet, the media hunts them but only Ashley, a persistent teenager who wants to do a documentation about their lives is reluctantly allowed to interview them because Neena wants to know how her parents met and fell in love. She begs them to do this video for her and they finally agree. Through all the anger and repressed feelings, there is still love between Paul and Clara - but only if Paul can forgive Clara for not really looking for him when she first learned about her pregnancy and if Clara can forgive Paul for leaving her without a word in thirteen years.

I had a really hard time when Neena, a twelve year old girl, makes her dad listening to her wishes regarding her funeral. How can you talk with your dying daughter about this without having an emotional breakdown? How can a mother cope with the questions of her daughter asking about how it feels when you fall in love with somebody, have sex with him or simply how it feels to be kissed? It was so hard to see Neena struggle with the thought that she will never grow up and have all these memories because she only has a few months left and her body is slowly shutting down on her.

It is clear from the beginning that there will be no miracle, no happy end for this family and still you cannot stop reading and accompany them on their journey which will inevitably lead you to the funeral of this funny, strong and beautiful little girl. This is not some cheesy story. It is heartfelt, authentic and beautiful while all the same ugly and unfair but for me it couldn't have been written any better.

I think it will take a while before I can read my next book. I'm still very emotional about this one and even now while writing this review I have tears in my eyes. Well done and many thanks for this book, B N Toler!

Felix Decker enjoys an afternoon in his Knickerbocker club when one of his fellow club members is found dead in an armchair. Nothing seems suspicious but Mr. Decker summons Frank Malloy from the NY police to look discreetly into the matter. Soon they find out that Mr. Chilton Devries was stabbed earlier in the day and bled to death internally without noticing. Since the Devries family is wealthy and well known, Frank needs to be very careful while investigating in this murder. He soon finds out that Devries was not well liked in his family and nobody seems to be very sorry that he is dead but to gather information on the family, Frank has to involve Decker's daughter Sarah Brandt in his investigations. Soon another man is murdered and Frank is sure that the murder is a family member but if this is the case, can he really arrest the murder or will Felix Decker order him to leave the case alone..?
----------------------------------------------------------------
At first I was not sure if I like this book since I never liked Felix Decker very much. Oddly enough, I soon came to the same conclusion as Sarah: Her father seems to have changed! I even think I liked Felix quite much the more I read in the book. His interactions with his wife were amusing and it is clear that they adore each other very much even though Felix Decker sometimes appears to be a cold fish. It seems this case is some sort of test for Frank Malloy - although I have to say I did not see what exactly he wants to test. Maybe he wanted to see if the Irish policeman can handle himself while spending time in wealthy society?! I will probably have to read the next book to see if there are any developments regarding the Decker-Malloy relationship if you can even call it that.

The case itself was intriguing and after some chapter I was disgusted with this Devries family but I guess this is how society worked back then. Everything was kept private to avoid any scandal and while men had nothing to fear, women had to fear for everything and were never save from harm - not even from their own family. How sad!! I cannot go into more detail without spoiling too much but the reason behind this murder was disgusting and I'm very glad it had a kind of happy ending for all others involved.

I much enjoyed the scenes with Sarah and her mother as I like Mrs Deckers humor very much. She is at ease with her life and I love how much time she spends with little Catherine whom she seems to be very fond of even though it is not really Sarah's child. Hopefully, Sarah and Frank will be able to find a way to get together and maybe then Sarah is able to adopt the delightful little girl. They are already like a family and I think Brian loves Sarah as much as Catherine Frank. Can't wait to read the next instalment and see if there is finally a happy ending for Sarah and Frank.

When Sarah Brandt learns that a woman asked for Catherine at the Hope’s Daughters Mission she is shocked. Has the time come that Catherine's real mother is finally looking for her? When she meets the woman, she finds out that Anne Murphy was Catherine's nurse and she abandoned the girl after a thread was made to her mother and they all had to flee. When Frank Malloy hears that Sarah had visited the woman alone, he is furious as he is sure the woman is an imposter. He pays her a visit the next day - only to find her murdered in the boarding house where she rented a room. Somebody has stabbed her to death. With some clues he found in Anne's belongings, Frank Malloy soon finds Catherine's father who is a wealthy man and desperate to have his daughter back. With the help of Felix Decker Frank is able to help Sarah keep Catherine for the time being - but it is obvious the little girl is in danger as somebody is determined to find and harm her. And then Catherine's mother asks for Frank Malloy to meet her..
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I guess I have been waiting for this book since Sarah met the little girl and fell in love with her but I never ever saw the events of this book coming. I believe this book is the best in the whole series! Once I started it, I could hardly put it aside and so I ended reading it just a few hours. I was always wondering if there is a happy ending for Sarah and Frank and you will have to read this book to get all the answers to your open questions - I will never tell and spoil your adventure! And and adventure it was to read this book..

There are many characters in this book I came to despise but it was again interesting to watch Felix Decker. The man starts to grown on me I have to admit and after so many books I really start to like him. The way he acts with Frank in this book makes me wonder how he was with Tom, Sarah's deceased husband. He seems to start to like Frank, dare I say to grow fond of him?! Maybe that's to far stretched but seeing them work together in this book was really nice and it makes me wondering what we will get to see in the next books.

This book was by far the best book of this series - it was funny, exciting and the case itself was really a page-turner. Nothing like the books 11-13 which I found nice but nothing special. Hope the next book is as good as this one!

This is book blew me away and it is difficult for me to find the right words. It was recommended by a friend and I downloaded the free sample and was intrigued by what I read - so intrigued I directly bought the whole book when the sample was finished.

It is difficult to tell you more about the book without spoiling the content. It unfolds its layers while reading it page by page and I guess that's part of the charm. The topic of the book itself is a serious one and I like how the author tries to bring awareness to this.

I laughed, I cried and I had goosebumps along the way. Another highlight on my 2016 reading list!

**Warning: There might be some spoilers ahead so please beware if you have not read the book yet**

Kitty is back with her team right after Operation Epidemic and Jeff as the new president of the United States needs to fill in open government positions and pronto since Cliff's "alien virus" has eliminated quite some staff. Furthermore, there are the upcoming peace talks at Camp David and they still miss some of their finest: the flyboys and Camilla and the princesses - but before the team can re-group, old and new enemies strike again and in the middle, Kitty and some of her team is kidnapped and neither can her men obviously find her nor can she get in touch with anybody outside. So, old news for Kitty but with her old buddy Richard White at her side, Kitty is indestructible and again out to save the day, her team and - the world! Again..

Even if I sound like an old record I can only repeat: love this series and LOVE, L-O-V-E my Kitty Gang. The events start right after the end of the last book and since Cliff is hiding somewhere after he escaped after Operation Epidemic, the gang is not short of enemies and frenemies. While she still tries to settle into her new role as FLOTUS as she calls it, their enemies do not waste time and soon she has to determinate what is happening and why.

I loved the setting at the asylum but had to agree with Lizzie: This place is totes creepy! However, it was an interesting setting with all its creepiness but I do love a good horror movie and those shoes were really spooky. Finding the flyboys had me fighting back the tears - especially the scene with Randy and Joe in the lab but I do hope that they are really fine in the end and nothing bad is coming later on from that.

What was really funny was seeing Kitty totally losing it with her men at home. I have never ever seen her so angry with her loved ones but I was absolutely with her. How could they really?? After all the operations and all the time. Therefore, I was a bit disappointed by their lame explanation and excuse and was totally with Abby when she said she is still angry but of course I felt bad for Jeff who was hurting more by the emotions and anger than by Kittys yelling so even though I did not fully understand why they acted how they acted I was at least a bit okay with her forgiveness. And it was absolutely more funny how everybody tried to mollify her and grovelled with the "Queen Kitty" thing after Kitty threatened with the Second Marriage Pool - that was hilarious. I giggling through those chapters.

The part with Richard finally remembering and the Camp Davis scenes were interesting and left me in the end with many questions such as: Will we see more of the Tinkerer? What happened with Cliff? Will Stephanie regroup and strike back (probably)? What's with those strange new superbeings? (by the way, what happened with the old ones?! One book they were fighting superbeings in Paraguay and Europe and the next the topic was dead..) Good news was: nobody from my beloved Kitty-Team had to die (yay!!) - Bad news: now I have to wait until December for the next book to be published. Thirteen books and I still love this series and hope Gini will give us many more alien adventures.

------------------------------------------------------------------
