Schindler's List
Schindler's List

4.0 von 5 Sternen Schindler: A Sinful Man doing a Sinless thing, 20. Juni 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Schindler's List (Taschenbuch)
Schindler was a very a sinful man. He cheated on his wife. Well if you've seen the movie you know the rest. However he did something that seemed to make-up for his flaws. He saved over a thousand Jews from Nazi concentration camps.
The book gives you the inside look that you don't see in the movie.
This book makes you feel that you're watching all the events happening.
I won't make this a long review like my predecessors.
Just read it and enjoy.

The Diary of a Young Girl: The Definitive Edition
The Diary of a Young Girl: The Definitive Edition

You share Anne's troubles and triumphs, hopes and dreams, and loves and hates. You feel as if you are living in the Secret Annex with Anne yourself. You'll smile at such moments like when Anne and Peter kiss. You'll laugh at Mrs. van Daan's pet peeves. But you'll especially cry. Especially when you read after the actual diary that Anne and the members of the Secret Annex were taken away. Only 1 member survived, Anne's father. You'll cry knowing that poor, young Anne was taken away from her parents and sent to a concentration camp. She died just a little while before the camp was liberated. Peter died just a few days before his camp was liberated. You'll be left thinking "Why couldn't she have lived just a few more days? Why?". This book is truly a must read.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Little Women: A Big Treasure, 19. Juni 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Little Women (Taschenbuch)
I read Little Women after having seen the movie. I enjoyed the book alot.
Read about Meg, the pretty and mature one, Jo, the tomboy, Beth, frail and quiet, and Amy, the spoiled and confident one. You can relate the these "little women" as you read.
But don't forget loving Marmee, fun and lovable Teddy, and mysterious but caring Mr. Lawrence.
I devoured every page of the book. I read almost 100 pages each day! The only part I found somewhat boring were the chapters about Jo in New York. Well the letters were a bit boring.
There are so many memorable moments in this book: Meg's vanity fair, Jo's haircut, Amy's punishment and humiliation at school, Beth's sickness, the birth of Daisy and Demi, and Jo's school. Read this book to be transported to the world of little women.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Wuthering Heights: A Delightful Love Story, 19. Juni 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Wuthering Heights (Taschenbuch)
I loved the story. It is truly a classic. The story focuses around 2 lovers, Heathcote, a gypsy orphan who is mysterious and Catherine who is bubbly, bratty, spoiled, pretty, and rich. They make a true odd couple.
However things don't always turn out as planned. Hearts are broken, hope goes, and mystery surrounds. Read this book and prepare to go into a world of deceit, love, joy, hope, and mystery.

The Memoirs of Cleopatra
The Memoirs of Cleopatra
von Margaret George
  Gebundene Ausgabe

5.0 von 5 Sternen Cleopatra: Both book and person a legacy and legend, 11. März 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Memoirs of Cleopatra (Gebundene Ausgabe)
I loved it completely and i'm only 11! It's the biggest book I've read since Gone with the Wind. I don't know if I can honestly say it's as good by it's definately in the same league.
Cleopatra faces good and bad throughout the book. It starts out when she's young and goes on till her death. It gives a very good portrayl of Cleopatra and is a porthole to Cleopatra's ancient world. Read it and be transported.

4.0 von 5 Sternen A Must Read of American literature, 10. März 2000
It's a tragic but story about Clyde Griffiths a poor relation to a rich, factory owner. In Book 1 he gets in trouble with the law after being a car that killed a young girl. He gets a job at his uncle's factory where he eventually meets poor but beautiful Roberta Alden, a factory hand. He meets Sondra Finchley, a rich girl who associates with Clyde's cousin.
However I believe the reason he was with Sondra Finchley was not love but curiousity of her being rich.
The murder trial towards the end of the book was a bit long and almost boring but the end is worth it.
I cried several times throughout the book. For Clyde and Roberta too.
It's based on a true story about the Gilette family. You know, the ones you buy razors from.
Read it and let it open up a world.

3.0 von 5 Sternen An Okay book, 10. März 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Emma (Taschenbuch)
You must have patients to read this book. The basic story line is really good.
Emma lives in Highbury and has a way of getting into everyone else's business. She's witty, popular, rich, and beautiful. If you've seen Clueless then you'll know the ending and the major points of the story.
It's one of those books where when you need something to read it's there. Pride and Prejudice is better.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Jane Eyre: An English Masterpiece, 10. März 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Jane Eyre (Penguin Classics) (Taschenbuch)
Jane Eyre is a classic tale of a young girl abused by her aunt and sent away to become a governess. She meets a cynical, odd man named Edward Rochester. His ward, Adele is a delight and quite charming. Almost like a Bonnie Butler. At Thornfield (Rochester's home) secrets unfold and hurt is contagious. A true masterpiece of English literature written by a great author. A book that will not soon be forgotten.

Gone With the Wind
Gone With the Wind

5.0 von 5 Sternen Gone with the Wind: The greatest love story ever, 24. Februar 2000
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Gone With the Wind (Gebundene Ausgabe)
Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler are classic charecters along with the rest of them. They're as classic as the story. So much history is in the book. It gives a clear and good picture of how it was during that time. Everything isn't perfect. I'm 11 years old. That may seem too young to understand such a classic love story but I did. It was even better than other love stories like Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre. Not to say they aren't classics. Ms. Mitchell writes the story clearly and comes straight to the point unlike for instance Henry James who takes up 2 pages to describe a woman's dress. If you read one love story in your life or watch one movie make it Gone with the Wind.
