5.0 von 5 Sternen Excellent book covering both dynastic history and everyday culture, 3. März 2013
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
Peter Ackroyd certainly had the gift of making history come alive. this volume covers English history from the earliest times up until the advent of the house of Tudor. The mix of "traditional" with cultural history makes for fascinating reading.
Buy, read and enjoy!

According to the introduction, Mr. Betti wrote this book at the behest of his students. He has written for them, and for them alone - in a dry, pedantic style which bored at least 2 readers, my wife Renate, and I. Because let's not forget, the world is a great place and worth understanding.

Rezension bezieht sich auf: Filth (Taschenbuch)
I enjoyed the first chapters of the book, very funny. The main character, Bruce, appears to have no redeeming features but I half-hoped that he would emerge in a better light. This does not happen, the book delves the bottom of human existence and ends up giving, me for one, a distorted view of human life and existence. The book does however do justice to it's title...
