Another fine release from this powerful vocalist and songwriter. An album full of rock, blues, soul and even a hint of country. Mostly co-written withher more than competent guitarist Jon Diamond.

Impeccable musicianship with a decisive 70s feel on the majority of tracks with remnants of vintage Stones and Free. While the titletrack seems purely Janis Joplin and Big Brother. And even though there might not be an immediate 'hit' all the songs are wellcrafted and by repeated listenings they start rotating on the inner jukebox. Especially "Vagabond Wind".

But however excellent the songs, the musicians and the production, the main attraction is the voice of Dana Fuchs. Her ability to get inside her meaningful lyrics and sing the songs from the heart. Convincing the listener that she is a woman with a mission that goes far beyond stardom and the like.

Classic rock at its contemporary finest.

Albert Hofmann may be better known for his famous bikeride than for his deep and profound spiritual and philosophical insights. Here we get an impression of him close to his 100th birthday and what a 'wise old man' in the truest sense. "A chemist who is not also a mystic is not a real chemist".

But this intriguing movie also shows highly interesting historic clips. Including a most hillarious scene with gigling soldiers unable to follow orders under the influence of LSD.

Amongst the interviewed Stan Grof stands out with thoughtful comments and strong presence. And we even get some old clips from his days in Prague and at Spring Grove.

Plus the usual - and inescapable - suspects like Ken Kesey and Leary. Some rare and trippy footage and wise words from Caroline 'Mountain Girl' Garcia. Both Kesey and Leary ofc giving the likes of Nixon and Reagan (the then governor of California) the perfect excuse for banning the substance.

Immense amount of information packed into the 90 mins. Watching it quite like a flashabck in itslef. Also have to mention the brilliant soundtrack by Marcel Vaid and some poignant clips with Hendrix and Grateful Dead.

Absolutely essential for heads old and new and everybody interested in sober views on the potentialities of mindexpanding 'drugs'.

Having released a R'n'B album under the monicker Isa, Jessica Pilnäs got fed up with the music business and concentrated on her medical studies, becoming an MD, and having to children. But fortunately she has returned to the world of music in a new much matured version.

This is a beautiful album, very relaxed and intense at the same time. And she definitely has the ability to sing from the heart in a way that touches the listener on a deeper level. And despite the jazzy instrumentation dominated by piano and the sublime acoustic bass of Dan Berglund (e.s.t.) it often sounds more like a singer/songwriter album in the best 70s tradition.

In fact Jessica has written some touching songs not least the beautiful "Just Not Today". Otherwise it's husband guitarist Johan Norberg who delivers most of the melodies. But there are also some very well done covers like Annie Lennox's "There Must be An Angel", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and not least "The Winner Takes It All" in duet with Nils Landgren. Managing the difficult art to take a well known song and making it her own.

A technically prolific singer but her real strenght is her honesty and emotional engagement.

This is one of Osho's more quiet meditations. In the first 45 min.s you listen to some special composed music. You can either sit or lie down. And you can make your own sounds tuning into the chakras or just listen to the music trying to feel your inner centers. You can also add visualizations or mantras.

In the last 15 min.s you lie down and listen to your inner silence in the 'hope' that a glimpse of real meditation might happen.

The fine music is by Karunesh, obviously inspired by Osho, as this is far deeper than his usual rather sugarcoated and bland solo-Cd's.

A fine way to open up to the chakras and entering a state of meditation. And a meditation that keeps growing. (I have done it regularely since '89).

This fabulous show, recorded live in Belgrade by Serbian TV, confirms the impression that the illustrious guitarvirtuoso never has sounded better than here in his mid 60s. Playing as visionary and innovative as ever, constantly going for the edge. And the more conservative John McLaughlin fans make take comfort in the fact that he here mostly plays his slightly phased jazzguitar, rarely using the laptop for synth effects.

The band is stellar with the versatile Gary Husband playing keys and sometimes supplementing Mark Mondesir on the drums. Whereas Dominique di Piazza is downright outstanding on the bass. I guess he might top my list of 'underrated basslegends'. Actually he had to jump in with short notice when the bands original bassplayer, the young superstar Hadrien Feraud had a fingerinjury. Di Piazza, a catholic pater, played with Mclaughlin on the landmark "Que Allegria" album and fortunately we get his feature number from that album "Hijacked". But that's really only one of several jawdropping solos, superfast but at the same time artistic and creative.

No Mahavishnu classics, but 3 songs from the brilliant "Floating Point"album, and the gorgous ballad "Nostalgia" from the MO3 period.

Like the Five Peace Band with Chick Corea this is fusion at its absolute best. Daring and mindexpanding.
