5.0 von 5 Sternen Can't wait until October..., 22. Juni 2016

...when the next sequel will be published. What I really liked is that in this sequel it's not only about fighting the Simulins, but that Humans & Altons try to solve the Originator-puzzle.
I also very much liked that "shopping" and "hamburgers" were reduced to a minimum 😜
Anyhow, keep up the good work, very much looking forward to October!

Before reading this book, you have to read the 1st 3 books to get a hang onto the storyline, but it's definately worth it.
Great characters, turns, you don't expect, sadness, joy, tech, a bit of philosiphy regarding time recursions, military action, some really good jokes ("sexually starved alien with four tits") , tensio - long recension made short:
Get that book!

5.0 von 5 Sternen What An Awesome Read!, 4. März 2016
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
I'm reading a lot of SF, mainly Hard SF and Military SF. After I ran out of books which looked like an interesting read, I stumbled over COLUMBUS DAY and thought I'd give it a try.

I have to bow my head to the author in deepest respect given the fact that writing is just more of a hobby to Craig who then produces such a fantastic novel.

A great storyboard (I LOVE alien invasions in Earth happening in 22n century), and a great set of characters. At the beginning I was a bit puzzled that the book is written in the first person ("our hero is narrating"), but the reader gets used to it pretty fast.
The book doesn't contain too much of hard science, it rather touches some of it's aspects during the story, but it's just the right amount to not spoil the story.
It's not too thrilling, so don't expect eating your fingernails while reading, still, it has a good pace and holds a few surprises which the reader wouldn't expect at the beginning.
But what is making this book so awesome is the protagonist's (meaning the author's) humor:
When reading the book while commuting to work, I very often had to laugh out loud, few times had even tears in my eyes, and people on the tram must have thought of me getting lunatic. Since I don't want to spoil the story here, no more details, but I've hardly read a SF book having so much fun.
Sure, sometimes there's like a Genie-In-A-Bottle-solution for some puzzles our hero has to solve, but they all make perfect sense and go together with the whole story.
One word to non-native-speakers (such as me):
Craig sometimes is giving us a hard time using quite some slang, but it's all understandable from context (though some dictionaries "refused" telling me the meaning of certain terms ;)

Dear Craig, in case you're reading this:

Please more of this, more of Skippy, more of Colonel Joe, more of the Kristang, more of the Hamsters and MORE CHEESEBURGERS!
Hike up the price, convince you're wife that writing has priorities over renovating the kitchen, do what you have to do so that this awesome read will continue.
Thanks for giving me the best read since a good while back!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Warum so kurz?, 6. Februar 2016

1.0 von 5 Sternen What a poor read, 31. Dezember 2015

Science is rediculous ("speed 20"), editing non-existent (missing paragraphs), poor dialogues - waste of time, sorry.
I rarlely post bad critics, but here I simply couldn't help it.

Great characters, tension, cliffhanger, science, realism - can't wait to get the next installments into my hands.

One of the best pieces of Military SF I've ever read so far.

What an awesome read!
I loved Evan's #OdysseyOne sequel a lot already, esp. for dealing in the near future and enabling the reader to envision the whole set.
At the beginning, I was a bit disappointed about the storyboard

--- spoiler ---
no space-battles
set is on an alien construct only
reminded me of Duke Nukem 3D (positiv!)
--- spoiler ---

Well, knowing Evan's style, I was expecting a good read anyway so I gave it a try.
I usually hardly give a 5 - star - rate, but the figures are created in a great way, phantasy twisting your brains, a good lot of sciene, and thrilling all over.

The final is an absolute pageturner, and I was pissed off when I got interrupted while reading.
Besides, I had a great laugh during the last chapter when Morgan and his Chief had their special discussion about anti-matter.

Great read, Evan, can't wait for the continuation of the story!

2.0 von 5 Sternen The ending is a joke, 17. Mai 2015

Not too much of tension, and an open end. no ad for a follow-up or sequell, so I guess that wasn't a cliffhanger but jusst an open end. Can't really recommend.

Thrilling like hell; not always a happy end, as such bearing awesome thrill. Characters very well developed, a page-turner, a definatley must-read.
I'm writing reviews very rarely, however, I have to give this feedback to the author and want to encourage every fan of Military SF to read this book as I recommend the first one of this series, töo.
Jason, if you're reading this review: Please continue this series: I'd get my bottom penny for a new episode starting 25 years after the end of this episode, when mankind is starting it's revenge. Please keep up the great work!
