I'm reading the "A Song of ice and fire" books by George R R Martin at the moment. Actually I'm in the middle of part 2 (A clash of kings) Very good fantasy literature.... come to think about it..... there ain't so much fantasy at the moment. Real good storytelling and nice to read

Hello,

I read and enjoyed White Fang too some time ago. But how do you manage reading several novels at once? I might manage with work related reading and a novel, but not with several novels. I'd get hopelessly confused about the characters.

I like to read a novel with as few interruptions as possible. The only reason for me to lay a book voluntarily aside, is if I did not really want to read it in the first place.

I am currently reading and chuckling over Diane Farr: Duel of Hearts.

well, whenever I read a book and like it, I will get through most of the writers books of at least that type. I have read all available JD Robb "in Death" books. I just finished the PJ Tracy "Monkeewretch" books, and am now on my fourth book from Tess Gerrittson around Jane Rizzoli..... I have read most of James Patterson.
I did read Dan Brown, but am honestly not too impressed...
The next books I will read will be portuguese though.... I don't know if his books have been translated, but I enjoyed the book "the formula of God" so if you come along "José Rodrigues dos Santos" give it a go

Well, I've just read one of the best american new-fantasy (gothic-) books that exist by now : "a great and terrible beauty" and the second "Rebel angels", the third is also already out: "the sweet far thing" ? Do You know them, they're gorgeous. And I've just started readin "World without end" by Ken Follet. You may know the first book of this row "the pillars of the earth". I'm sad to say that I don't know any of your books, but I don't only read English books, because I'm German as you may have recognized. So sorry for my English!

Hi, I am from (and live in) St. Paul , Minnesota/USA -- the birthplace and hometown of F. Scott Fitzgerald, author of one of the books you are reading. There is a statue of him in Rice Park in downtown St. Paul and his former home still stands. "A Prairie Home Companion", produced by PRI (Publc Radio International) is broadcast live (just a couple of streets over) from the theatre named after him; The Fitzgerald Theatre, or as we locals fondly refer to it -- "The Fitz."

I am reading "Mediated: How the Media Shapes Your World and the Way You Live in It" by Thomas De Zengotita.

Hi, I'm reading "Arthur & George" by Julian Barnes; it's based on A. Conan Doyle's defence of a lawyer accused of maming cattle in early 20th century Britain - I'm halfway through it only, but seems good, with an interesting psychological insight of characters. I think I may want to read all other J. Barne's novels afterwards - any suggestion?

Hallo alle!

I just finished "Berlin: Portrait of a City." A photo book and a beautiful one at that. I am getting ready to "14-18: Understanding the Great War" by Audoin-Rouzeau and Becker.

So you're into WW lit? That's great. I forgot to mention that I'm also reading Ian Kershaw's Hitler biography. Not quite sure about it yet, but it's very readable.

I always enjoy good fantasy. Thanks for the tip. Don't plan on reading Follet anytime soon (too long--I try to avoid those +1,000 pages doorstoppers).
Your English is great, don't worry about it.

I love Martin. I can't wait till he finally finishes "Dance of Dragons"! Man, that cliffhanger in the third book, with Rob's mom becoming something of an undead outlaw avenger?! That's some serious stuff! (I just loved the idea of her coming back from the dead somehow, to hunt down her son's killers. Hang 'em high, is all I can say.) I just hope the series doesn't go the way of Rob Jordan's--nowhere, that is.

RK Hawkins meint:
as for reading several books at the same time, it's just a matter of training. I do it mostly because there are so many books I'm interested in--that I want to read RIGHT NOW, RIGHT AWAY; there's just no other way to keep up with all that stuff. I have no problems returning to characters and plots that spent some time on the back burner. just a matter of discipline. but I rank my reading according to priority, and some books do get read straight through, without interruptions, whereas others just have to take a few breaks. a lot of authors read that way, check out Hemingway's multiple biographies if you don't believe me, and although it's probably not a sure-fire method for everybody, all I can say is that it works for me.
White Fang and Call of the Wild rank among my all-time fave books. I'm rereading White Fang at the moment, so it's not my first time. I love most of Jack London's work.

I am reading "Monday Mourning" by Kathy Reichs. A gripping read and of all her books I'd say, second after "Déja Dead". Forthcomming book will be Overexposed by Micheal Blair!

Hi!
Jack and Jill, by James Patterson (super-thrilling like all his books)
A Death in Vienna, by Daniel Silva (it's even better if you live there, like me)
Sex, Lies and Online Dating, by Rachel Gibson (hot!)

I read them one at a time within the last month. With small kids you only have the opportunity to read at night - sometimes VERY late at night :-))

I am reading the Tess Gerritsen-Series and all the books are really great; vocabulary is not so difficult and after a short time of reading you are in the middle of the story and you don't realize that you are reading a english book.

GREAT !!

I have just finished "His Dark Materials" and it took me some days to start a new book. Wonderful story even if the first book (The golden compass) is more for children than for adults.

Now I am reading "PS: I love you". It was a christmas present, but I`m glad my sister bought it for me, because even after 10 pages it seems to be a very good book, equally sad and funny.
