Gekauft habe ich den Mini PC mit dem i3, 4GB RAM und 128GB SSD.
Installiert wurde Sophos XG im homelab mit diversen WAF und Application Rules, VLAN's, und ca. 60 Firewall Rules.
Dazu kommen 4 x Site-to-Site VPN.
Seitens Sophos wird empfohlen Hyperthreading auszuschalten, jedoch kann ich mit aktiviertem HT bessere Performance feststellen.
VLAN's mit den I210 Nics sind kein Problem und funktioniert einwandfrei.
DSL wird über einen Draytek 130 bereitgestellt, verbinden tut sich die FW mittels PPoE.

Der Speedtest wurde durch einen VPN Dienst durchgeführt, ohne VPN ist die Internetgeschwindiegkeit ca. 5 Mbps schneller, wobei ich hier die Einbußen dem Dienstleister in die Schuhe schiebe :)

Leider ist bei mir die msata SSD nach ca. 8 Monaten kaputt gegangen, jedoch hatte ich ein Backup und konnte dies auf einer 2.5 SSD wiederherstellen und mit den mitgelieferten Kabel einbauen und wieder in Betrieb nehmen.
Da der Verkäufer sehr schnell auf meine Reklamation reagierte und mir direkt eine neue SSD zuschickte, vergebe ich trotz der der defekten SSD 5 Sterne.

Für mich ist es ein Top Gerät und ich kann es weiter empfehlen.

leider nicht geeignet für FreeBSD einschließlich V13.1, daher auch nichts für pfsense oder opnsense, da diese beide auf FreeBSD aufbauen. Alles funktioniert, außer den sechs Netzwerkports. Diese sind in der Beschreibung mit INTEL I210/211 angegeben, was auch funktionieren würde. Aber leider sind jetzt INTEL I225 verbaut. Es gibt auch Treiber, die teilweise funktionieren, aber nicht bei diesem Gerät. Unter FreeBSD13, pfsense 2.6.0 und opnsense 22.1.2 nicht.
Zum Rest. Schnell geliefert, Windows 10 in Englisch installiert, läuft schnell. Da ich danach sofort opnsense installiert habe, kann ich zu Windows nicht viel sagen. Auf den ersten Blick war alles ok.
Habe das Teil problemlos storniert und ein Protectli Vault FW6B - 6 Port bestellt. Das soll mit opnsense laufen. Ein Stern Abzug, weil in der Bildbeschreibung noch die "falschen" Netzwerkkarten angegeben wurden. Im Nachhinein habe ich gelesen, dass es einen Zusatz des Verkäufers auf eine Frage gibt, in der er sagt, dass die neuen Karten nicht mit pfsense funktionieren. Leider in der Beschreibung sonst nicht ersichtlich.

Wir benutzen diese Mini PC als pfSense Firewall an einer 1.000/1.000 Glasfaserleitung von Colt. Der Durchsatz ist exzellent (970/970). Das Gerät ist sehr robust, die Montagemöglichkeit bereits fest moniert. Die Option LTE ist noch nicht im Einsatz, aber ein Plus für redundantes Routing später.

Den mini PC hatte ich als Ersatz für eine ältere PC Engines Appliance gedacht, aber es kam ganz anders :)

Lieferumfang ist neben dem Gerät, was etwa so groß wie zwei Tetra Paks ist, ein externes Netzteil, zwei Antennen für WLAN, ein HDMI Kabel und etwas Montagematerial für weitere SSDs.

Auf dem PC ist ein Windows 10 Pro OA auf Englisch vorinstalliert, was mich etwas verwundert hat. Ich habe durch initiales Umstellen diverser Spracheinstellungen, Gebietsschemata und anschließend (viele!) Windows Updates am Ende ein aktuelles und überall Deutsches Windows gehabt.

Windows 11 kann auf dem Gerät nicht installiert werden, da das Umstellen auf UEFI für SafeBoot als Voraussetzung nicht reibungslos klappt. Ein TPM 2.0 Modul ist allerdings sowohl installiert als auch aktiviert. Diese Tatsache hat mich ebenfalls irritiert wie auch der Fakt, dass zwar insgesamt 6 Eth Ports sowie WiFi vorhanden sind, jedoch klein Bluetooth an Bord ist. Die WiFi Karte scheint also keine Kombi- sondern eine Singlekarte zu sein, was ich schon länger in diversen PCs nicht mehr so erlebt habe.
Hier sollte der chinesische hersteller mal überlegen, eine KOmbikarte zu verbauen, denn gerade wenn das Ding irgendwo tief verbaut ist, lernt man einen cordless Desktop an BT schätzen. (Ja, das geht auch mit RC USB Dongle, ich weiß.)

Da der geplante Einsatz aufgrund von treiberseitig nicht unterstützen Eth Ports ins Wasser gefallen ist, habe ich den Plan geändert und nun eine angepasste Debian Distribution von Phonalisa als pbx installiert.

Das mag bei einem i3 mit 8GB und 128er SSD leicht irre erscheinen, das Ding aber rennt nach kleinen Anpassungen traumhaft :) Sicher kein optimaler Einsatz auch hinsichtlich Stromverbrauch und Abwärme im Schrank, aber ist für uns in erster Linie ein PoC.

Bleibt zu hoffen, dass die SSD länger hält als bei einigen anderen Rezensenten, ich bin bisher mit dem kleinen Fußwärmer ganz zufrieden und kann ihn gern weiter empfehlen.

Keine Website für Support, nichts. Verarbeitung ist sehr gut, Metal Gehäuse, aber ihnnen flop.
Deshalb geht es zurück, irgendwie ist mir nicht klar was für eine Hardware das ist.

Keine Website für Support, nichts. Verarbeitung ist sehr gut, Metal Gehäuse, aber ihnnen flop.
Deshalb geht es zurück, irgendwie ist mir nicht klar was für eine Hardware das ist.

Seems a well made, well functioning, 2.5gbps firewall/router. Installed pfsense no problem. Silent, no fan, 8gb ram and i3 plently enough for 2vpns to a couple of virtual servers. Cooling heat sink case works a charm, steady at 27.9c for the last few days. A good buy.
However, if you are not a network admin or have a good understanding of networks, and can work with pfsense or similar, it's not for you. Probably doesn't need saying but just in case.
