    Did I need this to pass the test? Not REALLY, there are other free methods to learn about Amateur radio. This book however is THE definitive guide to the knowledge you need to pass the General class exam and get your second license in the Amateur Radio world. (Technician, General, and then Amateur Extra)

    I collected this book as a handy reference to my Amateur radio stuff but to be honest I haven't looked at it since I passed my test. Google is your friend and has everything you need. So for overall value I will give it a 5 but since I genrally will not look at it unless I can't find something on the internet I will give it a 3. So 4 it is!

    And just in case you are still reading. You don't need this book to pass the test. That information is also elsewhere on free websites that will give you practice tests with the actual questions on them.

    This manual gave me all of the data I needed to be a first-time "Go" on my ARRL General license exam. It's well-organized, easy to read, hits all of the key questions, and gave good explanations of the practical application of the concepts you learn, rather than just being a study guide to help you pass an exam. Highly recommend.

    The ARRL General Class License Manual is a valuable resource for Ham Radio Operators with a Technician Class License to prepare for the General Class License. The book was fascinating and filled with helpful information. I liked the illustrations and photos that made the information clearer. I recommend this book to my fellow Ham Operators. I also plan to keep it as a reference.

    The ARRL General Class license manual is extremely helpful in preparing for the FCC exam. Eleven chapters cover all topics in the actual General Class license exam. Thorough explanations and examples are provided of pertinent theories, formulas, operating principles and requirements. A complete Question Pool of all the test questions is included. When this manual is used in conjunction with other prep aids such as test study groups and online exam generators, it provides a comprehensive grounding in amateur radio. I passed my General Class license exam on the first try.
