Kurzbeschreibung

LEARN:: How to Forever Eliminate Writer's Block and Write THOUSANDS of Words a Day

Do you struggle to write every day? Many people dream of becoming a successful author, but can't *find* the time to write. The truth is this: Great writers don't have more time than you do. They make time to write. Not only do they make time, they also follow specific routines that help them avoid writer's block altogether.

By developing the "writing habit" you'll have the confidence to sit down in front of a computer every day, knowing the words will come.

YOUR GOAL:: Write 2,000 Words a Day -- Every Day!

One of the key factors to effectively developing ANY habit is choosing a specific, measurable goal. So if you want to become a prolific writer, then you'll need to choose a specific word count for each day. While I *suggest* 2,000 words as a goal, you can pick any number that fits in with your busy schedule. You might choose 500 or 1,000 words a day. Or, you might have more time than I do (or write faster than I do) and choose to write 3,000 or 10,000 words each day. The important thing is to establish a daily word count goal and then stick to it.

In "Writing Habit Mastery" you'll learn how to incorporate writing into your daily routine. What you'll get is a strategy and list of tools that will help you develop a sustainable writing habit and demolish writer's block.

This is a no nonsense book that gets straight to the point. Every detail is relevant. The motivational tone keeps you going and at no point have I found myself skipping pages (something I tend to do with ebooks…). The author writes as though he were a friend and he's got these points of advice that has worked for him and his passing it on to us. A lively read that makes you want to sit down, write and pursue our dreams. A new favourite!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Good book, will help you plan out your writing and get more done 28. August 2013
Von Nick Vulich - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
Good practical advice on how to keep writing consistently. Trust me, it's not easy to do. There always seems to be some sort of distraction lurking around the corner, and Scott deals with these suggesting finding two places to write. One at home, and one away from home - at the coffee shop, library, park, wherever.

These three quotes from the book were the key takeaways for me:

1. "Create small pieces of work, and then use them to scale into larger projects."

2. "Your goal is to create momentum by creating a writing habit where you always reach the finish line."

3. "Force yourself to outline or plot your book before you begin writing. Refuse to wing it any longer."

Those three habits alone will give me a great start towards hitting my goals.

Final takeaway: Writing Habit Mastery has a lot of ideas to help you write more consistently, and to overcome writers block. My only issue with the book is it seems to come across a little to preachy for me. I feel like I'm being lectured to at several points, rather than just being given information I can work with.

Read the book, see what you think? Overall, it will be a good help for anyone.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Every single page has something useful on it 31. August 2013
Von Najeeb Shaikh - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Frankly, I "purchased" this book when it was free as I felt it wouldn't hurt to have yet another ebook on how to write. Just a couple of tips, I felt, would be good enough for me, and wasn't expecting anything better than that.

Was I wrong! I was up till late last night reading it, and every single page has something useful on it. One of my favorites includes the part where Scott talks about the Pomodoro technique and the useful software links that follow. Other than this the part about scheduling yourself and tracking your time are all very useful.

He also mentions five good habits that every writer must have and one of these is how to overcome writer's block, something that every budding writer dreads. In that regard, a very useful tip that I picked up from this book is that you need to approach the task of writing as just that: a task that needs to be done, and you will eventually get into the groove.

Budding authors, it's definitely worth your while to read this!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Helpful Writing Techniques to Keep You on Track 2. September 2013
Von Kevin - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I'm really starting to see improvement in my habits from a string of books by S.J. Scott. It's amazing how relevant his books are to the situation I'm facing and this one hits the mark. I often drift off and never have a set schedule to write but knowing that there are others who write 2,000 words a day, no questions asked, helps keep me stay motivated to write. Some days it's a struggle and other days it's not. It's all about making sure you meet your goals. Start small and work your way up. I'm glad S.J. put this in print as it's extremely motivating and I'm sure I'll refer to it many times over the years.

3.0 von 5 Sternen A solid guide to improving productivity 13. März 2014
Von Jim Lester - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
If you're a writer and if you're serious about improving your daily word count as well as the quality of your writing, this guide is not a bad place to start. The author combines practical advise like scheduling a time to write each day or tracking your daily output with more philosophical approaches like overcoming your limiting beliefs. He presents a writing process that takes the reader from an outline to a finished product that cuts to the essentials and, if followed exactly, would almost surely produce a completed manuscript.

The book is basically a rehash of the same advise that appears in hundreds of writers guides but Scott uses numbers and bullet points to cut the information to a minimum. Unfortunately, he shamelessly pitches his other "how-to" guides throughout the text but this should not deter a reader who's looking for a solid set of rules to kick start their writing career.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Simple to Start 10. September 2013

The author tells me things I already know, but I need to hear them from a fellow writer. I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants person who tends to get distracted easily, so I need reminders to help me focus. This book has lots of great reminders all in one place on my Kindle.

Anyone old enough to remember the aftershave commercial where somebody slapped a guy and he said "Thanks, I needed that"? This book is like that!
