I had a chance to hear Keith speak, and also read his other book - Never Eat Alone. This one, as noted by a few other reviewers, has some good insights, but is probably twice as long as is needed, and emphasized the importance of having a personal board of directors to help with guidance and decision making. That board should not be made up of friends, necessarily, but of people who will challenge you and your assumptions, and drive you to being the best you can be. Ferrazzi's anecdotes and advice is solid, if somewhat repetitive to his other book and many other similar books out there. The most interesting aspects of the book and the best insights revolve around Ferrazzi's own challenges in the growth phase of his own company. A worthwhile read, and probably worth 3.5 stars if I could give it that, but since it is well overstarred here, I will downgrade it to a 3.

The concepts are great and I will be keeping them in mind as they are very useful. However, it's a little long in my opinion. Sometimes, the author comes across as "here's what I've done" and it comes across as bragging, which ironically, is a weakness the author had identified as his personal weakness.

Like I mentioned, the concepts are solid but I began to somewhat got tired of the examples in the middle of the book. I wanted to stop reading but I knew there are good ideas ahead I need to read so I kept on reading.

Yes it's good to have people in your inner circle, but "Never Eat Alone" did touch on that subject with a tad more emphasis on how to actually develop these types of permanent, imperatively important relationships. A bit self-absorbing at times, this book can still be provided as a motivational tool to deepen some of your business relationships you are actually in or currently striving for.

I have heard Ferazzi speak and was a fan, but the more I hear, the more disingenuous it seems and this book follows the same pattern. I was kind of with him in the beginning, but by 1/2 way through he lost me. And no one in the world could do all the stuff he suggests (and says he does) and have time for a job or a life. Also, the aw-shucks-humilty lines fail to cover the fact he has massive ego, which easily shows through in this tribute to himself.

I found this book to be an insightful extension of Keith's work in Never Eat Alone. I am a recruiter so many of the concepts in Keith's first book resonated with me and how I have built my network.

This book offers an important and deeper insight into how to build important and more intimate business relationships. I expected to love the book what I didn't expect was he keen observation that many people who excel at relationship building often fail at asking their network to help them. I felt that Keith did an outstanding job of pointing out the psychology behind this and how to build your lifeline relationships. I think we all know why we need lifeline relationships but this guide helps to make it actionable.
