This book confirmed my suspicions that we are allergic to a lot of the foods we eat, and the author lays out exactly which ones they are. You are actually going through 3 cycles on this diet, and the first is a 21-day elimination cycle--which will actually "enliven" your body, and get it back to its natural state. You may even lose 7 pounds during this cycle!
The next 2 cycles will add these foods back in slowly to see you have any kind of intolerance to them, causing your bloating, muscle aches, and weight gain. One problem food that the author discusses is soy, which I ate for years, thinking I was eating healthfully. When I cut the majority of soy out of my diet, I have continued to lose weight and it keeps dropping off.
If you are having problems losing weight despite doing all the right things, and have health problems that you can't put your finger on, get this book and find out if food is your problem! Your health problems may clear up and you may start shedding those stubborn pounds off of your body effortlessly!
I have a friend with Celiacs disease so I was aware of the gluten risks. Several of the school districts have banned peanuts from their menu due to the high risk of allergic reaction. My son has a lactose intolerance, so that was not new. Much of the other information was new to me.
My wife and I are at the stage of life (OLD)where she is physically unable to do much cooking and I can't boil water without the recipe. Most of what we eat are pre-prepared meals. When I look at the list of ingredients in these foots, many of them have gluten, high sodium, MSG and all of the other ingredients/chemicals meant to preserve them, the diet plan, other than the fruits, nuts and some of the vegetables render it almost impossible for us to follow.
The book was well written and formatted. I wish I had the willpower and ability to implement it. I do have about 3' of my waistline I would like to see go away.
