Kurzbeschreibung

Sora is having visions. Strange, terrifying visions brought on by her Cat's Eye necklace, an ancient and magical device. Spurred to action, she leaves her mother's cabin to find Crash, the mysterious assassin who once changed her life. She is certain that together, they can discover what the necklace is trying to tell her.

Crash is still on the run from the dark sorcerer, Volcrian, but now a plague is spreading across the land. Volcrian's quest for vengeance has awakened something far more evil than himself; a force that could destroy the entire kingdom. Together, he and Sora must harness the power of the Cat's Eye and kill the sorcerer before it's too late....

I love this book series! The story is so exciting, I can't stop reading. And finally there is also something for the heart, not to forget the funny situations that occur from time to time. The places, characters and their interactions with each other are authentic that you imagine you are really in this world and can feel what they feel. I also like the protagonists Sora and Crash very much and there is also some sympathy for the bad guy Volcrian because in this world nobody is perfect, nobody is just good or bad and this is really awesome. Unfortunately, the end came very suddenly. In the book before, it was more satisfying.

However, I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to read the next parts.

Many thanks to Miss Shreffler for this wonderful story!

Sheffler!

Prima Unterhaltung, interessante Charaktere, spannend, nicht allzu vorhersehbar. Nicht zu schmalzig. Ungewöhnliche Liebesgeschichte ohne bekannten Ausgang. Auch für älteres Publikum geeignet. Freue mich auf die Fortsetzung!

HASH(0x91ebec24) von 5 Sternen The pounding of the serf and why language matters 10. Juni 2013
Von AvidReader - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I liked book one enough to immediately buy book two, and I wasn't disappointed with the story itself. There are no real plot surprises. If you are looking for something very original or suspenseful, this is probably not the book for you. The real gold in this story is the tension between the assassin, Crash, and the heroine, Sora. She manages to be strong and independent, while at the same time finding herself regularly in need of rescue. He is the greatest killing machine on Earth, but he still gives our heroine plenty of chances to rescue him as well. I find that aspect of the story interesting enough to keep me reading.

Now for the not so good stuff. First, there are lots and lots of editing issues in this story. There are timeline problems. There are internal inconsistencies in the descriptions of people and events, and there are a few logic problems as well. These are annoying, but they are also somewhat expected. The thing that I just can't get past is the butchery of my native language. In a way, I consider this story to be an indictment of the educational system in America. In reading the author's bio, I learned that she is a professional editor. I find that incredibly disheartening. Indeed, it fills me with a sense of despair. This author uses the word "taught" when she means "taut," she uses the word "reign" to mean "rein," she uses the word "bare" when she means "bear," and "barred" instead of "bared." Perhaps the word usage I found most depressing was the author's use of the word "serf" when she meant "surf." Really? Surf just isn't a hard word to get right, but it certainly illustrates the problems that arise when you use the wrong word. Who wants to listen to the pounding of the serf?

HASH(0x91ebec78) von 5 Sternen You NEED this series in your life! 6. November 2012
Von Michelle@Book Briefs - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Viper's Creed is a fantasy and quest lovers dream come true. The stage was set in the first book, and now in this book you just get to sit back and enjoy every single page. I completely loved it. It seemed so different than most books that I have been reading lately. Especially the romance. I am a huge fan of this series.

Viper's Creed picks up a year after Sora's Quest left off, and Sora has been staying with and training with Lori. A strange and dangerous disease starts spreading over the lands and soon Sora finds herself off on another adventure. Along with a new sidekick, and two old ones. I am not sure what I think about the new addition to the group. Something about her seems off. But I do know that I love good ole Burn and bad ole Crash. And Crash is just as closed off and enigmatic as ever.

I said before that the romance is so unlike most I have encountered in a YA book. There is no insta love, no love triangle, no long time pining. But it is still so cute to watch Sora and Crash interact. Crash is a man of very, very, very few words. So pretty much everything about him is non-verbal. You can catch glimpses of him emotions and feelings through his actions. T.L. Shreffler has done a really amazing job telling a story without much dialogue at all from Crash, and that is not something that is easy to do. I do wish we saw a little bit more of Crash's point of view. We saw glimpses, but I found myself enjoying his parts of the story the most.

The Cat's Eye series is riveting. I loved it and I would put my review pile on hold if I had book 3 right now to read it right away. The adventure is really underway now. And we got more answers in this book so now I have a better idea of the next few legs of the journey. I have to say that I hope this turns out to be a very long series, because I have not had nearly enough yet.

*Disclaimer- I got an eARC copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I did not receive any compensation for my review.

HASH(0x926220cc) von 5 Sternen Excellent followup to Sora's Quest! 1. November 2012
Von Tams (TTC Books and more) - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

At long last I get to travel with Sora, Crash and Burn again! That's what this series is, it's an adventure that Shreffler takes you on. Wether it's through Sora's eyes as she fights to save the world as well as her friends and family from the Evil that Volcrain has unleashed. Or Crash's eyes as he does what Crash does best; kill people, keep secrets and push you away. So why are these two so drawn to each other? Let's not forget Burn; the big burly Wolfie is as outspoken as ever. When their little group takes on a stray, he immediately takes her under his wing relishing in his role as protector. Volcrain, still Evil, enough said.

This story takes place a year after Sora's quest when Crash and Burn left Sora with her mother. Sora has learned a lot and grown even more determined to stop the plague that ravishes the lands. Volcrain has unleashed something even he doesn't understand in his attempt to destroy the assassin that killed his brother. The problem is the more he learns about the evil power he wields, the more he likes it and the darker his soul becomes. Crash as well is struggling to deal with his own dark side while protecting Sora on their journey to rid the world of the Wraith's and Volcrains evil magic. All the while the chemistry and attraction between Sora and Crash keeps trying to break the surface. But Volcrain is coming, he's coming for Crash and by association, Sora.

There is so much going on in this book, but it still flows well and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens on the next page! I love Shrefflers ability to convey Crash's character with little dialogue by using lots of emotions and inner turmoil. And managing to show the selfless young women Sora is becoming while maintaining an innocence about her. The magic surrounding the cat's eye makes the story intriguing along with vividly described scenery.

This book will definitely stay on the current thread on my kindle, so that I can read it again... and again... and again......................

HASH(0x92622498) von 5 Sternen It's All In The Details... 1. November 2012
Von Jenna - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
...and T. L. Shreffler is the queen! Viper's Creed was so well-written and simultaneously maintained a semblance of naturalism that is refreshing.

This book begins a year after Sora's quest has ended. Sora's been busy learning and growing...but thoughts of her friends on the road are a constant reminder of what she lost - and may never have again.

More importantly, while Sora is learning the art of healing, she comes across a disease ridden with dark magic - one that can only be removed by her Cat's Eye. Further news has been spread that this plague is overtaking the land swiftly, wiping out entire villages. And this is what starts Sora's second journey.

Without going into too many details, Sora finds herself again on the road with Crash, Burn, and a new companion...who I just don't trust yet. Battling magic, bandits, and at times each other, they grow and we are able to really uncover more about each of them.

We are also introduced to a multitude of new mythical factions that I just LOVE! Great histories, unique ideas and magical attributes, definitely a joy to uncover. We're not talking vampires and werewolves people! (Although, I adore those guys too)...

I loved the inner-workings of this novel. Every page is written with purpose and each discovery adds richness, depth, and growth to the characters and their journey. I love the way that Shreffler builds her world. I can still picture the cities that the group stumbles through, the smells, the people, the buildings, just brillant.

Finally, the romance between Crash and Sora is almost tangible. I am really hoping for something big to happen in the final installment of The Cat's Eye Chronicles: Volcrian's Hunt coming out in 2013.

This is definitely an epic adventure told in three parts. Each one is broken up at a point that makes sense however it's so addicting that not having the complete resolution to the series is KILLING ME! ;) I cannot wait to get my hands on the final book and know where all of this wonderousness is leading - and goodness knows there are going to be some major twists along the way.

HASH(0x9262257c) von 5 Sternen TheRunawayPen Review 31. Oktober 2012
Von M. E. Farnham - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Rating: 5/5 Stars

*This is the second book in the Cat's Eyes Chronicles

I was anxiously awaiting Viper's Creed since finishing the first book, Sora's Quest, and it did not disappoint!

This book takes place one year after Sora's Quest ended, in that time Sora has grown up quite a bit since the first book, her fighting skills have improved as well. She finds Crash, and they begin a journey, with friends both old and new.

Crash is just as mysterious and interesting as ever, though parts of his past are beginning to reveal themselves. There are several subtle changes in his and Sora's relationship, they become much closer and Crash will still have fans swooning over his dark and dangerous persona.

We are introduced to new races, as well as taken to new places. The adventure and fantasy elements just jump off the page (err..kindle). There were also more displays of magic, that were pretty incredible. Perhaps a creature of some sort.. that's all I'm saying. ;)

Sora, though older, is still a young woman with a lot of responsibility. She rises to the challenge but comes across as very real in the doubts and worries that she has.

One more thing that I love about this series, is that each book doesn't really end (in an awesome way), that is to say, it comes across as one large story. As opposed to each book ending completely, then the next book having the same characters but some new problem. It reads like one large book seperated into several smaller books, sort of like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I really love the way T. L. Shreffler she has made each book flow seamlessly to the next.

Viper's Creed was amazing and this series is definitely one you don't want to miss!
