Kurzbeschreibung

If You Like VAMPIRE, You'll Love Sullivan's New Book KENTUCKY BLOODBATH Released June 2

A city under siege, held captive while a psychopathic vampire serial killer instilled fear in its residents, taunted the authorities, and brutally killed his victims.

This book is a chilling and stomach-churning look into the life of a twisted, sick man so evil one would wonder if he was even human. From his early days when he would liquify rabbits in a blender to drink its intestines and blood, to mutilating his victims, his thirst for blood could not be satiated.

This is the story of Richard Trenton Chase, the Vampire of Sacramento. It is not for the faint of hearts.

REVISED - 11/15/14!

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

My journey with the written word began very early in life. The first book I read (from cover to cover, mind you) was Charles Franklin’s, The World’s Worst Murderers, published in 1965. Being only ten, it wasn’t the kind of book that should have interested me, but it did. And despite having to stop occasionally to ask my mother the meaning of a particular word or two, within two weeks, I closed the book with a distinct sense of regret. A little later, my interests broadened, from true crime to history – especially that part of history pertaining to armed conflict- but I never lost sight of true crime, and I found myself returning to it over and over again. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that one day I’d be writing books about these very interesting and egregious life events. All that would come later. After spending many years in the ministry, I published my first book at the age of 40, Shattering the Myth: Signposts on Custer’s Road to Disaster, a personality study of George Armstrong Custer. But it was my next book that would place me on a firm foundation in the genre of true crime, when in 2009, my book, The Bundy Murders: A Comprehensive History was published by McFarland & Company. In turn, this led to numerous radio programs and contacts from documentarians, and portions of this work also appear in the college textbook, Abnormal Psychology: Clinical Perspectives on Psychological Disorders, published by McGraw-Hill in November 2012. I’ve also spent time in the trenches of the investigative journalist, unearthing long-ago forgotten – but very important - homicide cases, some of which were published in Snitch, a weekly print newspaper where I was a contributing writer. Some of you may remember the online site In Cold Blog, and my work has appeared there as well. In all, I’m the author of nine books. And now, writing for WildBlue Press, I’ve got a number of tomes lined up that I know you’re going to enjoy. My first one out the door will be a reissuing of my book, Vampire: The Richard Chase Murders, with Kentucky Bloodbath, a collection of bizarre homicides, soon to follow. And coming in 2015, you won’t want to miss my next biography, as it’s a tantalizing tale of long range murder, tentatively titled, The Sniper.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Well researched and written. Highly recommended for true crime readers 2. Dezember 2014

"The Richard Chase Murders by veteran true crime writer and historian Kevin Sullivan is fraught with emotion and detail. I always admire an author who dedicates their project to the victims, and tells about who they were and not just the crime against them. This is a well-written book that was researched in person and facts gleaned from key players during and after the Chase murders. A must have book for all true crime enthusiasts or collectors."

5.0 von 5 Sternen I am very glad to have read it 18. Juli 2015
Von Nicola Mansfield - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I knew very little about this case before reading the book. I read a lot of true crime but some cases make me sick and this one I knew enough about to make me think I didn't want the depth of a book to tell me more. However, I am very glad to have read it. Mr. Sullivan has done an excellent job with a very sensitive subject matter. Some reviews have called the book graphic, or, specifically, the writing graphic, but that's not exactly the situation and especially why I appreciated the author's tact. Yes, the data is graphic but 1) there are no crime scene photos and 2) the graphic details are simply listed information taken directly from police or court documents. The author hasn't taken any creative license in that area. Sullivan has done an exceptional job of providing direct quotes from various sources and weaving them together with his own sparse narrative that concentrates heavily on the victims, both dead and living. Sullivan also makes his main discussion throughout the text to be the difference between mental insanity and legal insanity. There is never any question that Richard Chase was mentally insane, but the question his trial brought to the surface was that a person can be insane and legally culpable at the same time. An absolutely horrendous case for everyone involved: first and foremost the victims and their families, but also those involved in the investigation, Chase's own family and even Chase himself, that he wasn't locked up in a psychiatric ward, when they first had him and he, himself, knew he was sick, years before he killed anyone. The book is short but thorough; anything longer than this would have been sensationalism. Great read!

5.0 von 5 Sternen thirsty for blood 23. Juni 2015

Kevin Sullivan did a great job telling the life of Richard chase. Seemed to be quite and polite but their was a dark side.. Extremely graphic detail what he did the people he killed. His life was a strange, explains how sick he was in the head. Killing animals at first for their blood wasn't enough. He didn't go far from home to kill his prey. Enjoyed this book and I am sure you will too.

As a true crimes enthusiast, I was very excited to read the story behind Richard Case, whom I knew very little about. Kevin M. Sullivan perfectly captures the very monster Mr. Chase truely was. Sullivan paints a very clear and descriptive picture of the gruesome events that took place in 1977 and 1978. Overall, this book was extremely informative and very intriguing. I would recommend this book 100%, to anyone, especially to those who enjoy reading true crime such as I do. Terrific book, terrific price. You can't go wrong!

This book was so well written that I felt I was following the detectives as they did their work in tracking down this monster. Loaded with clear, though sad gruesome detail, the reader will have a very clear picture in their mind of the timeline, the sociopathy, the psychiatric implications, and the many lives destroyed by the perpetrators actions.
