When I bought this book I thought, let's see what this is all about. Once I started reading I was surprised how interesting it was. I am not sure if I will unplug myself now, but I definitely would make sure to do it for the the right reason.
Scot has a very entertaining style of writing and by putting in his own life story, his experiences become a guideline to grab and keep hold of a possibility that could change your life forever.

Full of cliches and stereotypes. Not a single genuine idea in it. I cannot recommend at all. Don't read it.

HASH(0x94ad8294) von 5 Sternen An emotional call to action with little practical direction 31. Juli 2014
Von Mark P. McDonald - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Unplugged is a rage against the machine, in this case the corporate machine. Scott Rewick worked in a series of high tech start-ups and the pace, lifestyle and pressure was killing him and his relationships. Fired as CEO of a company he helped found he had an epiphany what he calls unplugging. He has now plugged back in by creating another business around unplugging.

Rewick can do this as he has 15 years building and selling Internet companies in Silcon Valley, a life that few of us know about and many would think is pretty good. This means that his advice rings somewhat hollow for people who have a family, mortgage, etc to support. That does not mean that you are a wage slave, just that you need consider things more closely than the author.

A call to action with no direction as the book is filled with energetic discussion of what is wrong with only light advice on what to do about it. Here is what I mean.

10 reasons to unplug soon
- Lying Gets old and tiring to ourselves, to others and about ourselves
- Your current boss will most likely fire you at some point, job insecurity
- Your company will likely fail at some point,
- Your earning potential is fixed, but your costs are not,
- You won't get rich working for someone else
- You likely already hate your job
- What retirement?
- On your last day will you really wished you worked more?
- Because your are tire do being such a wussy

With these reasons, its easy to see the diatribe and the defeatism associated with the current state and therefore the 'heck yes' to unplug. By you cannot just take this job and shove it, according to Rewick you need to get ready by finding a mentor to teach you how to be someone different (Rewick has a service for that), Read up on what is going on, get healthy and live a better lifestyle, get your finances in order and build something.

That is a mountain of things to do, that imply that the only path to happiness is to become a venture start up company organized around something you love. Great advice but not necessarily one that we can all act on. This is what makes Rewick's little book a two star review. He assumes that everyone should follow his path. The world is more diverse than that and there are multiple paths to do what is basic advice is:

Find what you like to do, I mean really like to do and then create or get a job doing that.

That is sound advice and to some extend the recommendations in the book help along the way -- get healthy, hang out with people who have similar interests, etc. So all good for that, but in reality that is all about plugging into yourself, who you really are not who you think or aspire to be.

If all he did was say that, then its a five star book but all the diatribe gets in the way.

Unplugged: Walking Away From a Job and Getting Everything You Want Out of life by Scott Rewick is about harnessing your abilities and forging your own path. The author created his own path and did something he loved, creating new companies. Now I know what you may be thinking, easier said than done, and you are right. Going out on your own can be very scary. This book doesn't say you have to quit your job and start your own business, all it is saying find your passions. This book a book about finding out what you want in life. I enjoyed this book and I think you will to. I would definitely recommend you pick up this book.

Thank you for reading my review.

Take it for what it is, a motivation book. It won't teach you anything beyond the generalities of what he did. Frankly, I didn't like his attitude that making money isn't enough and his complains about 80-hour weeks. Dude, you were living the life and getting paid the kind of salary most people will never earn. I tried reading it, got through 50% of the book but then decided to give up, I couldn't take it no more. It was just tedious.

A Book to rewire those beliefs that got you stuck.

Scott speaks from EXPERIENCE and this is one of the key ingreedients I have found that alot of authors lack.
From working his way through his business career Scott has over 15 years building and selling Internet companies in Silicon
Valley.

With an honest approach about the reality of business Scott poses that question straight of that
we tend to avoid deep down. What do you really want?

key highlights of the book for me are the headings and sections on.

Finding a Mentor.
Putting your Ego At Rest
Educate yourself
Exercise
Take Action
Have Gratitude

Key quotes that stand out.

"People, who make the most money, are solving the most problems"

"You can spend a lot of time listening to people
who have no idea"

"Do Everything For Your Customers"

This is a practical down to earth and honest book comes without the motivational hype just straight Lessons from someone who has done it.

Go pick up a copy of Scott's book for an honest reflection on what it takes to making money online for yourself.

You can make it happen

Scott's book is packed with some good advice which can get you
off dead center and moving in the right direction. For instance, he
advises budding entrepreneurs to surround themselves with successful
people who can point you in the right direction to facilitate getting things done.

The author reminds businesses to develop a customer orientation
which requires SATISFYING REAL NEEDS and not just what you want
to sell them. Following from that is advice to spend some quality time
and effort on product distribution and marketing. A corollary is to put
your product where the target market can evaluate and buy it.

Lastly, a product on its face must be simple enough to explain so that
potential customers can make an easy decision to buy.
The author concludes by disclosing where he can be accessed
on twitter. i.e. twitter dot com/ media mentors

Unplugged can be very helpful in getting the all-important focus for
budding entrepreneurs who finally make the proverbial plunge to
open a business of their own.
