Kurzbeschreibung

#1 Amazon Bestseller!

How to Travel Full-Time is a collection of practical tips and stories by full-time traveler and author, Colin Wright.

Rewritten from the ground up, the second edition of How to Travel Full-Time simplifies some topics while expanding on others, taking into account the feedback received and lessons learned from selling over 100,000 copies of the first edition.

Topics covered in this book:

The idea of travel, compared to the reality.
Types of travel you might consider.
The impact of long-term or full-time travel on your life.
Travel as a project.
Cultural relativism (a very important concept).
The ethics of traveling.
Punches, and rolling with them (vital for someone who makes travel a part of their life).
Money, and how it plays into this kind of lifestyle.
The platforms you can build to help you travel better, and sustain your lifestyle.
How to approach possessions as a traveler.
A core packing list to start with and build upon.
Buying tickets and how to do it better.
Legalities, debt, and other considerations (especially those involving paperwork).
The process of moving regularly.
Different methods of packing (and the pros and cons involved).
What to do when you first arrive in a new city.
How to explore most efficiently and effectively.
How to network in a new city where you don't know anyone.
How to document your travels, for your own use, and so that others might follow along with you.
Staying safe on the road.
And a bit about Colin's story, and how he built his travel-focused lifestyle.

Classical blogger superficial scrapes pulled together with a high degree of iteration and shallow content. If you want to read multiple times that you have to figure out yourself what your best way of living the nomad life style is - here's your book. If you look for serious experienced based advice look somewhere else.

Wer sonst hätte dieses Buch schreiben sollen, als Colin Wright?

Er wechselt nicht nur seinen Wohnsitz alle 4 Monate, auf Basis der Stimmen seiner Leser, er wechselt auch das Land. Seinem unkonventionellen Leben "On the road" widmet er in anderen Büchern.

Who else could have written this book, than Colin Wright?

He doesn't only change his residence every 4 months, based on the votes of his readers, he also changes the country. His unconvential life on the road is dedicated in other books. This book shows us how we also could live this life.

I did not have the intention to travel full-time, but even for part-time travellers, this book contains valuable hints, links, inspiration and motivation.

Colin makes no secrets, that even he's got doubt and shows how to deal with it.

5-Stars, because these tips have been/are incredibly valuable to me and I hadn't seen them in this form yet. And all of this at this hilariously cheap price.

Good structured in different topics and clear line, you can also just read the topics you want to.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Leverage Colin's experience to make your decision easier 14. November 2011

Colin has been an inspiration to me for years and in this small book that you'll breeze through it's as if you are sitting across the table from him and he's answering your questions about how you can literally travel non-stop. From making the decision about whether or not to travel full time to how your friends and family might take this change to how to pack and prepare for your trip it's all in the book. No topic is taboo and Colin readily presents his experience and how you can avoid some mistakes too.

Even if you're not prepared to go full in to a life of non-stop globetrotting there are some great pieces of advice baked in here so that if you do decide to go on an extended trip you'll know exactly what and how to do it. I certainly enjoyed this book and will revisit my notes and bookmarks when preparing to go on my next big travel adventure.

I read this before going on a three month backpacking trip around South America. I found that it contained MANY good nuggets of information. From which bank cards are best to what to pack to understanding how to cope with cultural differences, this book covers just about every topic. I also really appreciated the links to helpful sources.

I also want to say that it is organized in a way that makes it really easy to find specific information/tips you are looking for.

I will be re-reading this book before each big trip I take!

I'm a big fan of the author's blog and some of his other books, but I felt like this one lacked the passion and punchiness I've come to expect. Also, I didn't learn much in the way of travel tips- there's some excellent basics there, but not much that someone who's traveled a bit in third world countries wouldn't know. That said, it's quite entertaining and an interesting premise- actually traveling full time is an idea that would be inspiring to a lot of people and this book makes it all sound possible, so it's worth the read for that. Good for the price.

About half way through and really enjoying it. Written in an easy to read and concise way. I'm not interested in "full time travel" but rather just some lighter version of that and this book still has lots of great insights, encouragement and thought provoking ideas.

The book serves as a great motivator (with some warnings included) about becoming a location independent professional. As a web developer I found it somewhat targeted towards web developer/programmer types, but it might just do a good job of identifying with the reader. Also, those are probably the easiest professions to fit within a location independent lifestyle.

There were plenty of tips about how to prepare, what to bring, reasons for leaving, how to enjoy the travel like native rather than a vacationer, etc. It also had some good links to resources for purchasing tickets, legal advice, organizing on the move and more.

That being said, a few of the chapters read like a summary of content, and aren't meaty enough to be of much use. One subject that I was interested in but didn't find good coverage of: legal/bureaucratic ramifications of location independence. How to deal with visas, embassies, passports, legal differences in target countries, etc. It has a chapter talking about where to get legal advice, but I'd rather get some universally necessary information from the book than need to hire a lawyer.

I did however get a lot of advice on how to prepare, and some of the resources listed proved to be great.

I would recommend this to any online professionals looking to work from away from the office and live a mobile lifestyle overseas.
