‘The Tooth Fairy Wars’ written by Kate Coombs and illustrated by Jake Parker is a funny and well-made story about a boy who refused to give his beloved first fell-out tooth to Tooth Fairy.

The story main character, boy named Nathan, lost his first tooth. And as is the custom everywhere, Mom told him to leave the tooth under the pillow to receive a dollar from Tooth Fairy who will come to get it. But given this is the first tooth Nathan lost, he does not want to be separated from it, instead of dollar he would rather keep his tooth.

And considering that Tooth Fairy has job to do, she will not give up so easily from his teeth, and that means a conflict will start - the Tooth Fairy against Nathan. Both of them are tough opponents and there will not be winner, but still the result will be happy end for both of them…

With ‘The Tooth Fairy Wars’ Kate Coombs brought a nice story that turns familiar premise of Tooth Fairy on the head by introducing small reader with a different boy, for who is more important memory of the first teeth than money that could be spent on some pleasure.

The book also offers beautiful artwork that because of its style reminded me of Disney school having no problems to imagine how in the hands of skilled animators this picture book could turn into a very funny cartoon.

These all are reasons why this picture book is worth reading, and will be particularly interesting to your little ones who have entered the age when they lose their little teeth. Who knows, maybe it may even save you a buck or too…
