'A valuable stimulus to thought and action' Bob Heller, Management Today 'Succinct yet comprehensive, practical yet entertaining - few management books combine all these traits, but this is one such contribution' Petros Kalkanis, European Director, Gillette
Leadership can be learned. This practical and compelling guide offers the tools and techniques to help you build the necessary skills. It will enable any manager and executive to hone their skills in leading teams, departments, divisions and indeed whole corporations. At a time when leadership is not the exclusive territory of the CEO - each of us is placed in a position of having to lead something at sometime - this book is relevant to practically anyone, especially those who are in positions of management or aspire to it. Landsberg argues that anyone who personally engages with his team to create Vision and Inspiration and Momentum will almost certainly be regarded as a leader. This book shows you how to do that.Alle Produktbeschreibungen

Like his other 2 books, also this book is a fast and easy read. It offers a really great introduction to leadership!
Max Landsberg offers 3 books actually called "The tools of leadership", "The tao of motivation" and "The tao of coaching". Each book follows a similar pattern of telling, explaining and even showing funny cartoons to illustrate the stories even further. Each sub story is lovely presented and packaged so you can easily digest the lessons. The 3 books are excellent as a first and basic introduction to leadership, coaching or motivating staff. Each of them is highly recommended!

The book is presented as a guide and uses the story of Alex and his struggle to become a board member to illustrate the theory behind motivation. (Alex is also the name of the manager in The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, coincidence?)
The book follows the learning process of Alex, the theory builds on previous chapters and the VICTORY-circle (Vision, Impetus, Confidence, Taking the Plunge, Outcomes, Responding to feedback, and of course 'You'). As in all things when working with people, just telling isn't enough: Show, don't tell. In order to be able to motivate others you must first learn how motivation works and how to motivate yourself. A number of subjects around motivation (psychology, NLP, Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator, body-language etc.) are briefly mentioned in the book. A reference list encourages you to further exploring.
I must say the book had an influence on me because I learned some new things about motivation. Because you want to read the life story of Alex you easily pick up the theory in between (don't skip it!). These kind of business novels are a nice way of learning new things.
