Das TM Hotas Warthog System ist in Punkto Verarbeitung und Präzision,
derzeit das Beste was man am Markt bekommen kann. Eine Z-Achse fehlt und hat
in diesem System auch absolut nichts zu suchen. Wer entsprechend hochwertige Pedale
benötigt, sollte einmal nach "Crosswind" googeln.
Die Grundplatte des Sticks lässt sich problemlos entfernen und platzsparender
in einem Homecockpit einbauen. Es gibt Stickverlängerungen und gute Lösungen
für Tischbefestigungen.

Einzige Minuspunkte sind das billige Plastikkugelgelenk am Joystick
und die Vernietung des Schubreglers.

Ich habe den Stick heute erhalten. Das erste was mir aufgefallen ist ist die miese Verarbeitung. Im Gegensatz zum Warthog Joystick wurde bei diesem Addon der obere Griffteil fast ausschließlich aus Plastikteilen gefertigt.
Angefangen von der Griffschale auf der sich die Knöpfe befinden bis hin zum Trigger alles Plastikteile. Beim Warthog Original ist das alles aus Metallteilen gefertigt. Was soll der Mist. Bei einem Preis von 200 Euro kann man doch erwarten dass man die gleiche gewohnt gute Qualität bekommt die man vom Warthog Joystick gewohnt ist.

Ich möchte eigentlich nur auf die Qualität und Stabilität eingehen. Nachdem ich bis 2011 den
Vorgänger genutzt habe , und dort 2 Potentiometer verschlissen sind, kann ich zu dem" Warthog" nur meine
pure Begeisterung äußern. Stabilität, Haptik (Mit VR sehr wichtig, Immersion) und Robustheit suchen
Ihresgleichen. Ich habe das System jetzt 7 Jahre im Einsatz. Alleine 250 Stunden mit DCS World, und es funktioniert, und sieht aus,
wie am ersten Tag. Nichts ist defekt oder verschlissen. Kein Präzisionsverlust in den Achsen.

Danke Thrustmaster…. Weiter so !

Okay, die Dinger sind, wie andere schon geschrieben haben, wirklich für die Ewigkeit gemacht:
Massiv, stabil, schwer und robust. Dadurch ist er wohl auch eher dafür geeignet, ihn dauerhaft in einem Homecockpit oder auf einer Tischplatte zu montieren, als ihn samt Throttle alle paar Tage zum Fliegen auf den Schreibtisch zu stellen.
Ich nutze das Set zur Zeit in Prepar3D V4 hauptsächlich für den FSLabs 320 und verschienene PMDG-Flugzeuge.

Da ich zuvor einen 30€-Logitech Joystick hatte, war die Umgewöhnung ziemlich groß.
Vorallem die Höhe und Schwergängigkeit des Joysticks war anfangs gewöhnungsbedürftig. Ich bin dann auf ein Youtube-Tutorial aufmerksam geworden, mit dem man die große Innenfeder ausbauen kann, was dazu führt, dass der (zug zum) Mittelpunkt des Joysticks nicht mehr ganz so stark ist und er sich leichter bewegen lässt.
Einerseits tut es weh, einen so teuren Joystick zu modifizieren, andererseits kommt mir das Steuerungsgefühl dem eines Airbus-Sidesticks so deutlich besser nachempfunden vor.

Für die Zuweisung der großen Anzahl an Buttons etc. empfehle ich FSUIPC. Negativ aufgefallen ist mir hier bei der Konfiguration z.B. des rechten unteren Schalters auf dem Throttlemodul (dieser hat 3 mögliche Positionen), dass FSUIPC nur 2 Positionen erkennt, eine mittlere Position scheint es nicht zu geben. Manche Schalter wackeln außerdem herum oder lassen sich drehen, was dem Qualitätseindruck einen kleinen Dämpfer gibt.

Woran erkennt man das man das richtige gekauft hat?
Man freut sich schon beim auspacken wie ein kleines Kind und ist immernoch Glücklich wenn man das Teil zu ersten mal benutzt!

Gleich vorweg sollte man sich bewusst sein das es sich bei diesem Gerät nicht um eines der üblichen Plastikdinger für den Gelegenheitsspieler aller HAWX handelt, sondern um eine vollwertige Nachbildung der Steuerungselemente einer A10 aus Metall und unglaublich schwer. Ihr Postbote wird es Ihnen danken ;-)

Zuerst der Joystick.
Das Gerät ist sehr gut verarbeitet. Trotzdem das Gerät aus mehreren Metalschalen besteht spürt man kaum die Nähte. Alle Tasten sprechen perfekt an und sind gut zu erreichen. Natürlich sind die Tasten aus Kunststoff, machen aber einen sehr Robusten Eindruck und wackeln kein bisschen. Die Steuerung ist sehr präzise! Ein leichter Druck zur Seite und das Flugzeug beginnt bereits zu rollen.
Absolut notwendige Präzision wenn man mit der Bordkanone einen Panzer treffen will.

Eine Anmerkung am Rande: Nein, der Joystick kann nicht die Steuerung der Seitenruder übernehmen! Dafür kauft man sich die Pedale. Wenn man schon über 300€ für einen Joystick ausgeben kann, sollten auch noch 100€ für die Pedale drin sein. Und nein, ohne die geht es nicht.
Die Schubregler sind vergleichbar gut verarbeitet.

Durch die Einstellbarkeit des Widerstands der Schubhebel ist eine bequemes Fliegen ohne weiteres möglich. Auch hier bestehen die meisten Teile aus Metal und reagieren sehr genau. Die wichtigsten Schalter einer A10 sind hier nachgebildet. Welche man davon wirklich braucht und welche nicht sei jedem selbst überlassen, aber man kann auch ohne weiteres eine Bell damit steuern. Dann steht eben nur nicht an jedem Schalter wofür der ist.

Nun zum Aber...
Leider überlässt Thrustmaster die Qualitätsicherung den Kunden. Die prüfen sowieso viel genauer und finden kleinste Fehler. So auch bei mir. Der Coolie Hat am Schubregler reagierte nicht einwandfrei, beziehungsweise auch mal gar nicht. Also das Ding wieder in einen Karton und schon Ersatz geordert.
Der Neue war dann Einwandfrei. Daher empfehle ich jedem das System VOLLSTÄNDIG zu testen, damit man nicht nach einer Weile eine böse Überraschung erlebt.

These are well established as the go to button box for MFDs. If you add an additional LCD screens *shown in picture* and can work your way around a bit of LUA editing you can have an almost one to one replica. My only disappointment was the space in the middle is not square so on certain jets you lose some information off the corner edges. That said it's a game changer especially in MFD heavy aircraft, A-10, F/A-18 are much easier to use.

Full confession, I play Elite Dangerous (normally in Oculus) and have dual TM5000 joysticks ('coz I'm left handed and the FCS is pants for me), and I even tried the rudders as well as this.

They all work VERY, VERY well - no issues at all. But the downside is nothing to do with TM at all!

SO what's my beef? Well, with the T.H.R.U.S.T software it is easy to map three (or more, but for me three) controls to one button so even the dual joystick buttons aren't fully populated. I was thinking of doing away with the keyboard as one of these would fit on the board the joysticks are screwed to, but overall I rarely use the keyboard

So TM (AKA Guiullemot or something - good French company making what seems like quality stuff) get the five stars, but my brain only gets 4 because of the above.

This is the second set of these I've had to buy in a 3 year period. These should last longer as they have no "moving parts" but the internal electrics are evidently of the worst possible quality. The MFDs are mounted on a perspect sheet infront of a monitor and haven't been "moved" since they were bought, in just over 2 months, one of them has completely died.
When you search for this sort of issue online, it is rampant - what frustrates me is that Thrustmaster in the US seems to have a much better customer service than Europe!

If you are thinking about getting these Cougar MFDs for Star Citizen then do! They work really well with Star Citizen. I use them with a dual Thrustmaster T16000M setup. There is absolutely no need for the supplied Target software. Just ensure they work in Windows by entering 'Setup USB Game Controllers'. Once you have tested them then run Star Citizen, go to Options and then KeyBindings then:
- click bottom right hand option and click until you reach Joystick/Hotas
- then click the bottom left hand option, Advanced Controls Customisation.
- Now you set up the MFDs with the actions you want.

I use them in Star Citizen without the accompanied Target software and they just work.

Although this joystick is expensive, it is well worth the money if you are a gaming enthusiast. I recently started playing Star Citizen and as I improved, I found that I needed a more accurate controller with conveniently placed buttons and switches - the Warthog delivers it and more. Construction quality is astounding. The only potential downside is that it has no 'twist' function but in all honesty, if you are considering this joystick, you should be looking at buying pedals as well (as I have).

If you are contemplating buying this joystick, then just buy it. Nothing else comes close.
