Sanjaya has authored seven well-known technical books, including the world's only book on Power over Ethernet. His unique perspective in power electronics is the natural result of an equally unique educational and professional voyage, one which eventually spanned several continents and work-cultures, gathering hands-on experience quietly and steadily for decades. Finally, the best of the cost-driven Far East, high-tech German engineering and American inventiveness, were distilled into a lucid, reader-friendly and rigorous tome. Sanjaya initiated the first unified approach to switching topologies, breaking them down into three fundamental cells, then re-uniting them through the far-reaching concept of current ripple ratio. He was also the first to recognize, articulate and apply fundamental power and frequency scaling principles to resonant topologies, which resulted in the world's simplest one-page design methodology for LLC converters. If these were akin to some powerful yet breathtakingly simplifying approaches in physics, it was perhaps no coincidence. Sanjaya holds advanced degrees in physics from acclaimed schools such as St. Stephen's College Delhi, IIT Bombay and Northwestern University Illinois. He ranked 17th in the prestigious National Talent Search of India. Professionally, he has worked in well-known companies such as Freescale, Siemens AG and Broadcom. He spent over five years at National Semiconductor (now Texas Instruments) in Santa Clara, California, where he created innumerable articles, widely-cited App Notes, patents, datasheets, training material and webinars. He was also National's only guest columnist in history, besides the late Bob Pease. He is exceptionally proud to have been let go by Integrated Device Technology, personally, on the orders of their current CEO Greg Waters, for upholding the rights of a young Mexican engineer Jose, who had complained of discrimination for years at IDT, to the Government ... Jose was nevertheless blatantly fired in a seemingly retaliatory move by Waters, using cooked-up "non-performance" after the fact. Sanjaya was also let go, less than 24 hours after writing an impassioned letter to Waters, defending Jose and "the weakest". But Waters was not done. Months later, Sanjaya was let go by ZMDI, as apparently a precondition, if not the only reason, for Waters (IDT) acquiring ZMDI ... Sanjaya went on to become co-founder and CTO of Chargedge with the most exciting technology in wireless charging. Sanjaya lives in Fremont, California with his ever-supportive wife Disha and their two little Maltipoos.

電源の基礎からEMIや損失の話まで、一式記載されている。FETのスイッチングON/OFFの途中過程についても解説されており、参考書と言うかリファレンスに持っておくのは良い。全文読みこなすまでには1年は掛かるかも。各所必要な部分を摘まみ読む程度でも良いだろう。

There are many power supply books on the market and some of them are outstanding; Pressman and Tartar and Lenk come to mind. Speaking for myself, I don't find complex math very illuminating--I don't feel like I understand a circuit until I've conceived a mental model and arrived at an intuitive understanding of the forward and feedback functions. If you want a deep analytical dive into a math-based analysis of a power supply, then perhaps the Erickson/Maksimovic book will earn a treasured place on your cluttered desk. If you want guidance in a practical, intuitive and, let's come out and say it, a fun way delivered by a creative, experienced and iconoclastic thinker, then, by all means, this is the book you want. This is not a dry book...Sanjaya wears his heart on his sleeve and loves taking the battle to the irrational and wrong-headed when he encounters them. This makes the book a pleasure if, like me, you don't mind an off-course excursion on occasion.

The fact that the book is reasonably priced is a welcome bonus. No question about it: Five Stars.

I have been trying to find a book that explains in simple text how a feedback loop control works. There are two books that I find useful. One is this book and the other one is 'Practical Design for power supply.' In this book, the author went through close/open loop analysis, compensation network, current mode control, etc. He used a lot of pictorial explaination, which is great, as I don't like to read words :) Also it has a good chapter on switching power lose.

The only draw back that I found is the language used. Sometime I will get confused and have to go back and read it a few times. But other then that, I think you will find this book pretty helpful. Enjoy.

There are lots of good things about this book - EMI chapters, chapter on practical issues and good reference equations all in one place. So from that perspective this is definitely a A-Z book. Also there are some good intution aspects well explained here.

Unfortunately i also felt the author talked too much about ripple etc. and made some of the simpler concepts more arcane (for example the introductory chapters on inductors and capacitors and energy sloshing back and forth)

So I am split in my review. I believe each reader should try to borrow it/read it in library first to see if the writting style etc. suits them.

Despite I have great experience in other fields, I don't have it in power electronics. I found this book very original and didactic. I gess that his author has a big experience in this matter and hi has also the experience to transmit it. Written in a easy way to understant with a lot of tables, figures and equations, all the subjects are treated very deeply. I think is an useful book for any designer that must deal with power electronics.
