Just by going through this very large book one time you should be able to pass the exam with zero effort. Never thought I'd be saying this but I'm officially switching to support Mac's because of the simplicity of the OS and this book is only driving my desire to make that switch. Kudos to the author!
This guide takes you deep into the Mavericks operating system. As the book jacket indicates, "this is both a self-paced learning tool and the official curriculum of the Apple Training and Certification Program."
There are in-depth, step-by-step instructions:
*installing and configuring Mavericks from various scenarios,
as well as re-installing
*setting up, configuring, and managing user accounts
*file system management: dealing with encryption, permissions, sharing,
*data management: hidden items, system resources, metadata, spotlight, archives,
*time machine: explanations and instructions, tips and troubleshooting
*applications: installation, management and troubleshooting
*network configuration essentials and troubleshooting
*network services: host sharing and personal firewall and more
*system management: peripherals, drivers, print and scan, and troubleshooting
More than just a how-to book of focused lessons, there are explanations of underlying technologies, troubleshooting techniques, system administration, user tips and pointers.
I just think the writer is all over the place.
But, then again, it's a broad subject, and there is a ton of information.
If you use the study exam on the apple website, in conjunction with this book, you'll come away with a great grip on things.
But if it's knowledge you seek this little guy has you covered. from the very start, I have been learning things I never knew.
