For business statistics courses taught in Economics and Business Schools A classic text for accuracy and statistical precision. Statistics for Business and Economics enables students to conduct serious analysis of applied problems rather than running simple "canned" applications. This text is also at a mathematically higher level than most business statistics texts and provides students with the knowledge they need to become stronger analysts for future managerial positions.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Too many typos in the worst places 27. Dezember 2010
Von Jaewoo Kim - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
As others have already mentioned, this book has too many typos in all the wrong places such as equations. In the page 229, for example, the equation for variance is all minus signs when they should all be pluses. More than once, I have spent couple of hours trying to figure out why my answers were wrong only to find out it was because my answers were based on the wrong equation given by the book.

FYI, not all books have the typo problem. It appears the typo issue has been fixed but there are many earlier prints, like mine, that have this problem.

This is not a beginner's book. Rather, it appears to have been written for intermediate (non-calculus) statistics class. The book's explanations of Central Limit Theorem and others are fairly solid and the authors' writing styles are very fluid. The book does not necessarily look like a mishmash of different authors writing with totally different writing styles, and that is not easy to do when writing a book with multiple authors. So I give kudos to the authors for the overall quality of their writing.

If you a total beginner in statistics, I recommend "Humonguous Book on Statistics". If you are looking to improve your basic knowledge on statistics without going into advance calculus-level statistics, then this is a decent book except for the typos.

I would also like to see a workbook companion as this book's explanations of solutions are very skimpy.

If not for the typos, I would have given this book 4 to 4.5 stars.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Caution! Too many typos 8. Dezember 2010
Von Mike - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
Wrong equations, wrong solutions in the back and many typos in the actual content of this book encourage me to give it a worse review than 2 stars. There was some relevant information applicable to the real world which is why it deserves at least 1 star. This book is for amateur statisticians and the typos can really mislead the intended audience. I wouldn't recommend spending the amount of money if you have a choice. In general the book is just poorly put together. There are many chapters with the same information and some chapters have major jumps back and forth. This book also repeats itself a lot and, given the amount of typos, it tends to contradict itself. I wouldn't waste your time with spending a fortune on this.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Binding Came Apart After One Use - Recurring Issue 6. November 2013
Von Pen Name - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

The binding came apart right away after I rented this textbook from Warehouse Deals, Inc. This is the same thing that happened to the other two commenters Yifang Zhao and Angry Student.

Now I have to pay $110 to purchase the book. I actually only used the book once or twice at most and then left it in my locker for a couple months before sending back to Amazon. I hope Amazon flags this textbook to warn customers as this is a recurring problem.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Too many typos 14. Oktober 2010
Von MyPenName - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Seems like a good book. However one thing that put me off is the number of typos. Almost every chapter has 2 or 3 typos. And not just spelling errors - incorrect formulas and reference to the wrong tables/figures etc. I have never seen so many typos in a test book.
Can be very confusing.
Overall a decent intro to Statistics from a business point of view.

1.0 von 5 Sternen One of the worst textbooks I have used. 4. Februar 2015
Von steve - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
This book is not good at all. The authors should be ashamed of this effort. The content coverage methodology is illogical and the explanations are simply bad. I have an M.S. in a related field with deep coverage of applied statistics, and to be frank, if I didn't already know the information supposedly covered in this text I would be lost. If you're trying to learn these concepts from this book, good luck to you.
